I'm only about 45 minutes away from Castle Combe and had looked to get on a track day there before Christmas but couldn't find a date that had places free. :smt009

I may pop up that day anyway and say hello, if i'm not up to anything!

Love Combe, it;s about 25 mins from me. Small track but fast. They will tell you that Quarry is one of the most difficult corners of any track in the UK and there have been many casualties over the years. As you go into the corner you go over a Avon rise and the car goes light...you need to break before or after the rise to make the corner, breask on the rise and
it could end in tears if you don't have your witts about you. Shame it's not a weekend or I would join you.

Never driver the track in a CSL but have a few times in a Lotus. Track map below.

Ahhhh twit I am.....Just got back from Goodwood....OHHH MY GOD.....First time on track with the CSL and all I can say is BLOODY HEEEELL WHAT A CAR....Will post some pics next week....surely with the laws of physics the CSL should not go round corners as it does...Stunning. Do not think I will ever sell.

Will prob come over to Combe for a look on the 6th but will not be on track unfortunatly.

If I've got time I may nip over for a chat around lunch time. I'll have my 4 year old son with me so no track action for me. If the weather is fine I'll break out the CSL, if not I'll be in a blue 335i Touring. Look forward to putting some faces to names.

I'm definitely going now, as i missed Donington last weekend!

Just booked - only 7 places left - and the weather looks like it should be pretty good

Who else will be there then?

Doesn't look like I'll make it over...

Lol, i sort of didn't expect you anyway Andy! :gayfight:

Had a great day yesterday and the weather was indeed superb. The track was icy at first - which was interesting and had a couple of sideways 'moments' whilst in 'M-Track' mode!

I met kbird (Kevin) from this forum in his SB CSL. I managed to transfer into the same group in the afternoon and the track had dried out nicely to get a bit more speed going. I even graduated to driving with all DSC off and in S6 - and it does make a noticeable difference - as long as you keep the driving smooth. We were certainly able to keep a couple of GT3 RS owners on their toes! :smt065

AlexGTT also popped in mid-afternoon to say hello with his little lad - in a BMW 335 touring...? The shame! :hahaha:

My new AP brakes were great with really consistant and stable braking every time - with none of that 'standard CSL ' fade or judder! Would be nice to try the track in summer on Cup tyres as it would be rather fast indeed!

I only took a couple in the car park and they aren't great - i think i need a new camera for Christmas!

I did try out my new camcorder suction mount which is really good but my video camera threw a wobbly too so only a few short vids of us going past the start/finish line.

Yep, I was able to drop over for an hour on Saturday after taking my boy out for the day. Nice to meet Rob & Kevin. You both got the  from my 4 year old who said off his own bat "those CSL's sound great!" when you were on track. Like my boy said "stop talking" which is his code for let's get some track action going then. Looked like fun out there and your cars looked great.

Sorry to let the side down not bringing the CSL. My lad is recovering from a small op last week, so I thought comfort was not the best in a CSL! I also couldn't face the cleaning job on Sunday.

I remember doing Castle Combe, such a fast track, love it! Cost me £40 for about 5 laps, enough to have killed me crap OEM brakes!

How did you find Quarry...did you break before of after the brow...

How did you find Quarry...did you break before of after the brow...

Ok, i could feel the car squirm in the morning when it was icy/wet. I dab the brakes just before the brow to load the front before the left hander then straighten-up, hard brake, before turning tight towards the apex.

The first 3 shots are at quarry in the morning. :-D
