Love that colour
There's a few e46's running around here now - one with CSL wheels - and every time I see them Im tempted to buy one just for the sake of it. They are bargain money now.
How did you come about getting rid of the CSL then back around to one of these Andy? Just as fun for road?

Hi Bryce...the CSL went in 2010....Had another child and needed a bigger house and my wife gave up work so something had to give.....Had an E39 M5 for a while and a few Alfa Romeos but now the E46 are becoming very cheap it was an ideal time to get one..........If it wasn't for the above I would still have the CSL..Best car I've every owned and I've had many Lotus, TVR and a Maserati, but the CSL just blew me away above all of them.....Thats all before that particular pleasure was taken away from me mind you.....

Great Andy. I can never explain it but the csl is just so special.
My friend understood fully after letting him drive. He owns an e92 m3 w/ dct and has never seemed fully satisfied. He was round one day and asked if he could have a go. When I clicked the button to open the garage and the front end appeared from behind the door he commented "shoulda bought a csl". After a decent run in opposite cars we returned - him grinning like a cheshire cat - commenting " my face hurts from smiling so much ". He later said " I thought I'd bought the wrong car, and that's just confirmed it"
Anyway, enjoy the new motor!

When I visited the key to start the garage area and the top side end showed up from behind the entrance he mentioned "shoulda purchased a csl". After a reasonable run in reverse vehicles we came back - him beaming like a cheshire cat - leaving comments " my experience affects from cheerful so much ". He later said " I believed I'd purchased the incorrect car, and that's just verified it" . . . . . . . . .
No, Dutch I think.........

You still got this car Andy?
I'm tempted to get an E46 M3 as a runabout - preferably in one of the rarer colours rather than black, silver, grey, dull, dull, dull!

I love them in silver grey does that make me dull?
Can be hard to find a good one that wont ruin your wallet, now I know mine has,5k spent on it in the last year and not on mods either. They are great cars though but nothing like the csl.

Do you use a standard M3 as a daily drive Monkey? What age/spec?
I am hoping to pick one up that is ideally full BMWSH having had recent tyres/brakes to reduce any potential outlay.

I do yes it's a 53 plate on 75k was 68 when I bought it.it has Harmon kardon manual box electric seats csl wheels d2 coilovers braided lines with BMW performance brakes running csl size discs rogue rear bushes spacers front rear with scorpion rear box, updated gear linkages.I changed all fluids diff gearbox etc and maf coils vanos filter fuel filter vanos solenoid, then I had it corner weighted and set up to csl spec geo and lower ride height limit for the csl.
Rust can be an issue rear quarters front wings rear number plate rear boot lock door catches as you are well aware.:119:

Sounds like you've done a fair amount of mods to her!
I will keep mine largely standard save for decent pads, upgraded brake lines, etc. I will get a facelift car and would rather it be SMG I guess but I am curious to know how a manual M3 feels compared to the CSL or standard SMG.
I did test drive a manual M3 CS back in late 2007 and I do remember preferring it to a standard M3 SMG that i drove back to back at the same time. I had yet to sample the delights of a CSL at that point which i did shortly afterwards and thats when my requirements totally changed! :hahaha:

I definitely want something a little more unusual and Imola is one of them along with Laguna Seca Blue.
Some of the Individual colours are great too but rare of course.

Manual all day its a bit clunky but less to go wrong and normal smg won't be as good as csl one,and you can practice heel and toe don't think normal m3 autoblips on downchange unlike csl.
For the money they cant be beat good economy great drivers cars that still look great and has big boot and room for four.
