Is this worth buying?

is it louder than stock? very loud?

i assume the one for the standard e46 M3 is the same as the one for the CSL?

It's not much louder than stock as it is still a resonated (has a silencer in it) unit.

Yes, they are all the same for both M3 and CSL.

Personally I prefer the Supersprint units having had both over the years.
