What would be considered too early? I know it's 1200 and people frown if they are late but what about early

The official BMW line with the running in service is that if its done more than 2000 miles before its running in service then the engine will not be warrantied now. And yes the BMW national database has records it based off service invoices and im told it flags up on their system if it was over 2000 miles.

Just use the thing, drive it down to see me on a saturday. That will be a 200 ish mile trip if you go the long way round.
Ill run her in gently for you, if you like. Ill use it to and from work, low revs, near 30mpg and 300 miles a week.
Running it in on bricks is useless, it needs load, if you run it in like that, the rings wont bed in correctly.

I've been out in it all day today, curb crawling
And with the trip to Cambridge tomorrow it should near enough. Sorted a lift from Elms to the train station with a contractor we use down there so all good.

EquinoxBMW may let your car be 800 miles over, but I bet they won't let you be 800 miles under.
