I got Alcons last year and was happy with them till the last Ring visit. We found that pads were almost new on top but almost gone on the bottom side and what more after pads change the steering shakes like mad when braking and we found the front rotors are gone. Yes after 10kkm :(
I askes Thorney for new set but they say 8 weeks lead time. 8 weeks now in April? :(((
any idea? Should i try to find the Alcons faster or change to something else??

when did you last bleed the brakes?
and why are the discs 'gone' because of the juddering? or thickness?

I have had this before with my APs - it happened because the 2 calliper bolts were not tightened equally by the garage that fitted them. I replaced the pads and torqued the bolts equally and the problem has never happened since.

I would chage the discs too as there will have been uneven wear here too.

I'd love to change the discs. Asked in Thorneys and got answer that 8 weeks lead time :(( asked Alcon with no replay :((

the juddering could be pad deposits, which can be removed by spirited riving with new pads, or by getting your discs skimmed ( as long as you have done as glendog suggests and check the bolts first)

Hi,
Seems Alcon do not want your Custom.
If it was me, I would see if the existing
Alloy Brake Disc Belles can be redrilled
for a different Disc PCD [Mounting holes]
and then source something like PF, which
are more readily available at the
same disc thickness /diam.
If you were really cute you would see
if you could also find a lower 'Vane'
disc at the required size and loose some
weight in the process.

The Gorilla.

Could he not just buy 365mm PF discs with new bells.
Thats what I would do.
To the OP, please call Ross sport, ask for Ross, tell him Shane/Lawsy put you onto him. He has a vast stock of Alcon stuff and is an alcon dealer. He specialises in Evo';s but he will be able to source you the bits you need.

Lawsy- for sure, what he should really do is sell
the Alcons and buy your AP's.

Sorry to drag this one up as a first post!
We (at Ross Sport) have the full range of E46 Alcon front and rear kits in stock as well as spares to support existing users.
I've recently bought a CSL so would be rude not to get some Alcons!
Happy to help anyone on here at special rates.
