Well decided to bite the bullet and go down the Bucket Seat route for the car.
2 reasons, 1- I hardly use it anymore on the road and 2- it should preserve the original from wear and tear from my lardy ar$e.

After looking around at what was available and speaking to a few folks i decided on the Recaro Profi SPA. (its snug thats for sure)

Looked into VAG mounts and what was available as an alternative so until i lay my hands on some i have fab'd up a set to get the seat in the car.

Hopefully some folk can get use out of this as a DIY guide if you are happy to have the steel frame rather than the VAC mounts.

Heres some pics,

The chosen seat

The fixing actually come out of an old RS Evo.
Bolts to the car using the original fixing bolt so done the job perfectly here.

Great job Paul

My only concern would be that the seat looks very high. Might just be the pics though

It is quite high Shane, probably about the same as standard but with the added pain of high sides. This is rev-1 so on rev-2 i will go lower  will do the job for silly though.

Only used two on the outside, nobody sees the inside ones :hahaha:

Hey Alex how's things?

Tucked in is good however it pushes any excess out the front so i risk friction burns on the gut from the steering wheel :bigcry: :bigcry:

Great work Paul ... Probably better than a lot of the aftermarket items I've seen.

I have a genuine Recaro floor mount with slider provision that I use for my car - if you want to copy the design of it let me know, and I will send you some photos. It allows for height adjustment for the seat and allows it to sit lower than OEM.

Sure, fire some pics through when you get a chance pt@interwell.com

I actually had nothing to do last night so knocked up rev-2. The seat mounts lower and further back allowing more use of the slider.
Will take a couple of pics tonight.

Good build, similar to the frame I built to allow shorter drivers

NZ M3 can you post pics of your slider?
