I'm not a big fan of the site to be honest...got some good advice but they will cut your balls off if you even think about posting in the wrong forum. It's a very complex site......I like simple.
I cant get on, been trying today with no luck!

Regularly down, couldn't get on it today either.
I think it is a bit hostile too actually, but nevertheless good if you need a quick answer on something.

.. but surely most of the users (well, CSL ones) exist/post on both sites? Unless it's the 6-series people who are hostile, because they're having to drive those ugly cars :bigcry:
PS - yeah been down all day. Guess the owners not around to fix it

I presumed that most of us on here postover there too - i guess that isnt the case!
I find this site the more friendly, though has being said, Mtorque is goood for quick technical answers, though with time and better knowledge of the car hopefully i'll be able to input alittle more over here :smokin:

Problem with the site is the huge narrow mindness of some of the people!
Much friendlier over here :)

Over here we just have a few hundred users registered but not many regular posters - all CSL'ers (probably?). Over there we have nearly 10,000 users and hundreds, if not thousands of regular posters. The smaller community is always going to seem more friendly. There isn't really much trouble on mtorque given the size.

The requirement for a 'proper' ISP email address is a good thing, and is used by many forums (certainly a lot of the bigger ones) to limit 'trolling' - the idiots who register loads of hotmail addresses and use them to create multiple users to post crap. It's also another step towards blocking auto-registrations.
The vast majority of internet users do have an ISP address so it's not a 'problem'.
SpineOnABap
18-11-2008, 09:03 AM
Come to think of it...
Out of curiosity - how do you actually end up NOT having an ISP address? Don't all ISPs give away at least one address when you sign-up, usually for free? I've experienced many since 1994 and they've all included that in the base packages. I remember even that first one back in '94 (Cityscape) included an email address.

This site is more friendly. I find its hard to get taken seriously being female and into the csl or cars generally. I have had a falling out or two on mtorque - I post sometimes but a lot less than what I used to. Matt has always been helpful to me though. There are some good guys there but also some a*holes.

Same everywhere really though isn't it, especially when a site grows to nearly 10,000 users. There will always be people who don't 'get on' (in forum terms, seeing as most of those people never meet)
Never thought you got any stick over there though (?)

Looks like you took the bait old man. Such pompous snobbery is what I'd expect from a middle-aged chap - you're not a CSL-driving old dude now are you?
In the few months of M3 ownership I've already met a few lads who post on here, and they were all decent blokes, with fairly modified - 'pimped out' is the term I believe you old chaps use? - CSLs. I nearly bought a Gruppe M off one of them, though I'm sure you'd point out it was fake.
Obviously there's always one prize cvnt in every forum.
I'm off to have some fun in my pimped M3. See how I've ruined it by fitting an aux-in kit for my iPod (Google it dad)...

Man from Essex calls man from Cheshire a chav. Hilarious.
Dude you're making yourself look a bit of a balloon here. As SOAB says, you moan about 'hostility' on forums, then have a pop at me for having a lowly M3, probably because I can't afford one. You know, after trading in my £40k Cayman S and picking up an M3 while I look for a 997? Chavs do that a lot.
Seriously, your CSL-pomposity is a touch embarrassing don't you think?

And there's me thinking that the CSL Register is mellow, easy forum!
Mtorque does have the odd individual on there who consider their opinion to be extremely valuable.
Generally there are loads of nice folks on it but watch out if you post anything on there that they'll think devalues the CSL ethic.
Mtorque for me is good because it's busier but it's fun to watch folks light the blue touch paper and stand back!
Especially anyone who posts on the CSL forum there without actually owning one (how dare they!)
Windy - Don't take it personally, some people like winding others up. Not everyone with a CSL has a superiority complex, horses for courses and all that. And I certainly wouldn't bother justifying what I'm driving to anyone, let alone on a forum. :-)
They don't know you, so you could live in the car or in a mansion for all they know.

Bike and a train..
Car stays in the garage.. I know it's sad but I know I'll just fret about it if I leave it at the train station every day.
