View Full Version : How many wheels do you have?

Just wondering what most other people do with regards to track days as far as wheels go. In short I have 15 spare wheels bouncing around the garage et al. I should point out that not all of these are for the CSL.
As far as the CSL goes I have four wheels with Cups on and two spare fronts with 'wet weather' tyres (Pirellis actually- not my choice) and then another buckshee front with no tyre on for refurbishment purposes. My thinking is that I seem to get so much brake dust on the fronts after a track day (obviously not so much on the rears) that I would be constantly refurbishing them if I kept them on for normal daily use. Hence the two spare fronts with 'wet weather' tyres.
So do most other track day attendees also have a spare set with wet weather tyres on ie not Cups.
All in all it means she looks her best when not on track.
Is this thread pointless - ??? No awards please. Just keeping in line with the 'Shimmy' regular new thread policy .
Pip
Ps I use RS19 pads....or is it 29s for track days.

4x Volks G2 with worn Michelin Cups
4x Smax 17" with Michelin winter tyres
1x CSL front with Michelin PS2
Then of course the tyre mountain of

Absolutely not BillyboysM3 but I shall be showing Shimmy's answer to my wife next time she compalins about my wheel collection.

I've got 2 sets of CSL rims, one in black with cups on for the summer, one with Eagle F1's on in sliver for the winter.
Thinking of changing the black to some other color but can't decide what? Maybe bright red like the gen 2 rs's or balls out day glo green or yellow but not sure if I have the balls to go with those colors.

Gay thread.
I get away with 12 stock 18" rims, 4 with Dunlop slicks and 8 with Toyo R888 for when there is a chance of rain.
I'm keen to try a set of proper wets. A damp morning at Rockingham recently showed some cars with them to be unbelievably quick in the rain.

And unbelievably quick into the barrier (that's my philosophy on wet track driving)

Mine too, I used to drive the same wet or dry, now I dont bother. I just get a cup of tea now if it rains. Leave that to the heroes:supz:

I am not sure everyone got this thread :moan:. It was meant to be those tyres/wheels OVER and above the ones you have on your car. I think it goes without saying you have a set on the car. Unless of course your car is parked up north outside in which case it is probably on bricks and all your wheels are in the kitchen.
Pip ;)

Hehe, ok here goes:
4 x Bmw 19" that came with the car from the factory (non CSL style) with brand new Yokohama AVS. Never use these really.
8 x OZ Ultraleggera 18", all with 265 cups in different state of deterioration
3 x CSL rears without rubber
1 x CSL front without rubber
The CSL front and rears might need an explanation :-D Since my car came with the non-CSL wheels from the factory I thought I'd get a CSL set, no rush though. So I've bought a wheel here and a wheel there ending up with 3 rears and one front :hahaha: So what I need now is either one more rear for a square setup or one more front. No rush... I intend to keep the car for a long time and I rather drive with 18" on track due to the cheaper 18" cups. Eventually I'll have a complete CSL set
