Hello all. Good to be back. Anyone had a steering wheel re-trim done ?
If so who did it, how much and what sort of quality was the job ?
Shaved it ( the wheel that is  ) last year but it really needs a proper refresh. Cheers, Sticky.
P.S. Who said the gruppem titanium was loud, it barely raises any eyebrows in the village at all. :bigcry::bigcry::bigcry:

Mine is held together with gaffer tape currently.
We should start a round robin where we keep the trim but send off the wheel for refurb after receiving a refined one form the guy before.

It's Damn loud isn't it? Lovely on full song, but bimbling about it was a bit much for me personally. Lesa still loves and swears by hers, :smt055

Had mine done at Royal steering wheels 6 months ago
Looked brand new and still does, I was a bit concerned it wouldn't be stitched as well or would tarnish quicker with use, but it hasn't.
Service could be slightly be better, said it would take 10 days and it took about 3 weeks, but I borrowed a wheel from Jack, so wasn't a problem.
Can't remember what I paid

Transcal did mine a year and a half ago very good also did the try colour stitching as it should be! do a search for wheel retrim and you will see some pictures of mine and if you ask them they will also put a yellow tdc band on, cost was about 130 inc

Do please ask the prices & options for a leather covered steering wheel. I know that is not purist but...;)

I try my best to keep the faith but have to be practical.
My E30 had the alcantara steering wheel - removed that on Day 1 and enjoyed a smaller diameter Alpina momo steering wheel for 80k miles. ;)

Love my Momo wheel :) Can't imagine a leather one in the CSL though

I've got an alcantara wheel in my e90 done by Royal, it is a great job, I'd say 95% as good as OEM CSL wheel in terms of finish. He won't do the yellow strip, I asked for the blue strip as a copy of the BMW performance one on mine but he said it was too hard to do it really neatly.
He used the proper alcantara so the wheel is wearing the same as the CSL one (ie is manky after 10k miles )

There is a chap local to me in cheshire that does them too, works for Bentley and makes an amazing job but your hope so really. Will do stripes at the top too from memory.

I have currently got an order with Jack @ Royal, which I placed last week so hopefully the wheel will be ready soon.
His prices are very reasonable and the work he does is very good.
Plus, if he has stock of SMG wheels you can order a trim and then send yours back when you receive the new one which is the option I have gone for.
Nathan, am surprised he said that about the stripe at 12 o'clock, Jack quoted £10 to have it on my wheel but I decided against it, a few of the cutters boys have had him do the 12 o'clock stripe.

...out of curiousity is the 12 o'clock stripe in a single or 'M' 3 colour?
