View Full Version : Strange "clicking" noise?

Afternoon all.

Taken Cecil out for a spin a couple of times in the last few days to blow the cobwebs out and seem to have a strange noise emmanating.

It sounds like a mountain bike freewheeling, a sort of, clicking sound. Speeds up as i speed up, but isn't as 'quick' as a bike freewheeling.

From sticking my head out of the window as i'm driving along, it seems to be coming from the front wheel area. I've checked under the car but nothing.

Any thoughts?

Cyclist caught under the car - ? :hahaha:

Sorry no idea. What about a recording of the noise. Hopefully just some paranoia.

Have you been changing spacers around and put a wheel bolt back in that is a bit to long.

Cyclist, god damn, that's what all the screaming was!

wheel bearing or similar was my thought as well. Will get it in to be looked at. Have got spacers on, but the nuts are the right ones...

Thanks for the input.

pebble or rock behind the brake dust shield ... usually that 's what it is ... take the wheel off the corner that you think is making the noise and give the shield a couple of taps with a rubber hammer and see the cyclist fall out :hahaha:

If its constant as Tom says stone behind brake shield, or tone in tyre.

Bearing tends to sound when you turn a corner, not on the straight initially,

Could be you pads lifting and dropping if you have a rough area on your disc, happened to me, everytime the area came round it gripped the pad slightly, just enough to lift it the distance the clearance allowed, and then the click was when it dropped it again ...simple.

Duncan told me they aid high speed cornering? They seemed a steal at £300 a wheel. Don't tell me he was pulling my leg?!
