Hi guys...

I just wanted to know if any of you have tried 285/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sports on the rear of your CSL's?? Are they any better or worse than the 265/35/19's....?

285/35/19 will have around 40mm bigger diameter than 265/30/19 and 20mm bigger than 255/35/19 so it may well rub much easier.

If you want to run 285 tyres look out for 30 profile if I were you

but its much heavier then the 265/30/19 no?. And would the stock csl rim fit on the 285/30/19? would this have any advantage to change to 285? better grip i suppose or?

As far as I remember Loaded is running 295 in the rear but don't have info on rim offset. It was a dream to drive with 265 in the front and 295 in the back. With 265 in the rear it was quite tail happy :thumbs:

I'll piggy back on this thread for similar sort of inquiry.

Will 245/35/19 at the front and 275/30/19 at the rear cause any type of issue?

Wider tyres = taller side walls as the 35 & 30 represent percentage of the tyre width so 35% of 245 is more then 35% of 235. This will increase lateral movement/flex of the tyre side wall and therefore the whole chassis :banghead: Furthermore, your in car instrumentation, in particular the speedometer will give you false readings.
You're better off sticking to recommended OEM sizes and widen the track with good quality spacers :beer:

H&R 12 mm is what I used with that particular set of wheels mate ;) and it's what I'd recommend for the rear only. Pic below to demonstrate.

I used to run 245 on the front and 255's on the rear - I like oversteer :)
245's gave better turn in and more grip up front.

they will give increased grip when accelerating and under braking tho matt, but like you say taller means more sidewall to flex- so steering would not be as precise, but then you'd get a better ride too - ask bealo about that:hahaha: 235/35's will snap out of grip quicker too I think [ the thinking bit is where this may all come undone]


Also depending on your ride height and camber set up you may experience rubbing....

Bealo had this on his CSL and no issues

On a more serious note, the M3 CSL has a great, forgiving chassis and is all about cornering ability, not the 0-60 nonsense, so I'll be sticking to the tyre sizes BMW recommend :blalalala:
