Hello everyone,

Here are some pictures of my 1996 850CSi Individual.

It currently has 49'000 km and is the only of the 1'510 850CSis produced in this color (Technoviolett).

If I had to keep just one car, I really don't know if I would keep this one or the CSL...

I really love the 850CSi as much as the M3 CSL and I don't intend to track the cars anyway.

Each car has its qualities and its annoyances.

However, I must confess that the subframe stories I have been reading about the E46 are scary...

I know you might be a little biased, but which car would you pick if you had to choose just one?

:)

Not to the point of not wanting to own my CSL :smt055
I've had mine checked @ Murketts BMW Dealer when I bought it back in 2009 and I'll be asking Gareth @ Elms BMW Cambridge to check it again @ the upcoming Inspection 1 Service this summer.
Even if a crack is detected, BMW (GB) have been quite supportive in fixing this problem FOC , so far
If your CSL hasn't been tracked or had very stiff after market suspension fitted from new and you're not planning to track it anyway, the chances are it's probably OK. For peace of mind get it checked by a friendly Swiss BMW dealer and find out how supportive BMW (CH) are with regard to this problem. Failing that get in touch with BMW HQ in Munich.

Thank you for your precious advice Matt.

I plan to have it checked as soon as the snow and salt on the roads disappear.

Thank you Ron.

The S70 V12 is a great engine and it's pretty rare too.

I agree, the car hides its weight and handles really well.

Do you sometimes regret selling it to get a CSL?

Yeah its one of those cars that creaps under your skin, its just great at everything, well apart from when i comes to fuel stops but you dont own something with a large engine then whittle about filling it up. Had some great moments out draggin my mates in their Skylines and Mitsy 3000's. You dont see many for sale in the UK and given the chance its the only car i would buy back.

Thank you for your precious advice Ron.

The 850CSi was my dream car when I was a kid. It's the car that I used to draw on my school books and the car that I wanted to buy "if I was to win at the lottery".

Mine has a quite "special" interior, but I got used to it.

It's too hard to choose between this car and the CSL.

When I aquired the M3, I was planning to sell the 8', but I might regret selling it.

I think I will wait and let time do its work.

As Benjamin Franklin said: "When in doubt, don't"

Ha that'd be some room to fit 2 lardy old 8 series bm's in. If you look at numbers made the csi makes the csl look like a regular production car, virtually none for sale at any given time so there ner ner.
