I AM AFTER A CSL 2003, PREFERABLY GREY. I HAD SEEN ONE ON P.H FOR £22K 2003 39K MILES, BUT A DEPOSIT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN LAYED ALREADY.
I AM USING THAT AS A GUIDE FOR VALUE. I NEED TO SELL MY S3 YET BUT HAVE SOMEONE VIEWING THIS WEEK SO WOULD HAVE READIES NEXT WEEK SOME TIME IF ALL GOES WELL.

The guy selling that car put the price up and it needed 2-3k spending on it.
You need to up your budget by another 2k at least for a private sale. You will be viewing the bottom of the Market at that price.

Did anyone know the car? it had 4 previous owners, 39k miles 2003 and is based in London.
I know london to be a little bumpy and tight in some places. Stop start all the time in london too, would a SMG clutch and possibly get worn dramatically?
The car has still got BMW Warranty on it till may 2009 though.

I suppose I would probably be looking at £24-25K realistically. I have an S3 MTM at the moment, would a CSL compare at all? I think someone needs to take me out in one for me to be hooked! any offers? lol

karbon kid,
Does the CSL compare? Once you have been in one you won't ever want to get in you S3 again.... MTM or not.
I'll hapily take you for a spin but im 30 mins up the M23 from you.

I also enquired after S88 CSL - and i cant say for sure - but i think the main thing that put me off was it had a really high amount of owners - not always an issue with a CSL as they tend to be multiple owned but this one seemed high if i remember. Its also been for sale for quite a long time and that may also suggest other potential buyers didnt like something when they did a little digging???

Ok I get you. I do have some rather tasty AP brakes and discs and pads ready to go on, so not too much of an issue there i suppose. But tyres are expensive I can believe and the bumpers have common stonechips im aware of too on all. tar.

Alot of CSL's are on their 4th or 5th owner but 9 does sound alot. 25k will get you a really good one at the moment to be honest. Condition and history is the most important bits to look for. I wouldn't get to hung up on mileage either as a car with 50k on the clock could have been cherished more than a car with 9k on thats just done track work....History and condition.

Fact is, you can't get a nice CSL for £25k. If it sounds too good to be true...
