Apologies if this has been asked before, I done a search on the forum and found no info.
I've been looking at the costs of buying a CSL and trying to keep it on the road financially. Probably not the top of most peeps agenda on here but can anybody advise on the fuel consumption ?
I done a quick guesstimate that these run at 20p a mile but I'm pretty sure that's not realisitic in day to day life :)
Thanks for any info

22-24mpg average.
30ish at an 80mph cruise; 9-12 around the track. :smt077

So on Average then around 20p a mile.....
Best case 15p and......
Track case 48p
Currently doing 2/3k miles a month meaning around £400 to 600.
Not TOO scary then
cheers

Im seeing an average of 19mpg on the computer - but thats shortish shuttle runs and once engine is warm its sport button ON and foot to floor!!

I find the fuel computer is 2-3mpg out - the wrong way
True mpg i get 23mpg @ 80mph cruise, but my car could well be mapped, not sure until i get her on the dyno.

Either way - i always fill up with Shell V-max/Optimax whatever its called - and i rarely get more than 200 miles to a full tank.

No idea when it comes to 'pence per mile', I'm afraid. There seems little point trying to calculate it this way when petrol prices fluctuate so much...

Blimey! Are you driving an Evo FQ340?!
I'm similar to Bravo73. If i'm very careful (boring) with the right foot, i can squeeze 350ish miles from a full tank. That's long haul motorway driving at a steady 85mph and a little 'A' roads 50-70mph.
My car is Stage 1 tune (370bhp running Shell V-Power) :)

Glen - im rarely "careful/boring" when driving the CSL - as soon as i hear that induction roar all hell breaks loose!! That said i genuinely dont believe its possible to get 350 miles to a tank - no way!!!!???? Are you sure that your Stage 1 tune didnt involve putting a diesel engine in as a replacement!!!??

Mark noticed you're in Scotland do you often visit knockhill ?
Th reason I ask is a friend of mine takes part in alot of trackdays at Knocky and mentioned a Black CSL tearing up the track alot. When I suggested getting a CSL he was more than conviced this was a very convincing car after seeing it on track.
I love the broad range of MPG suggested, so far we have 7 to 34 :)

Mark - your reputation preceeds you! But if you're only getting 12mpg, you're not trying hard enough. You need to get it into single digits... :supz:

Brilliant :D
I've noticed a company called Nick Johnson in Oxfordshire have a number of CSL's in, anyone dealt with this business before ?
They also have one of those "Saphire Black faster than Silver grey" CSL's in priced £500 more than a car which has 7k miles less.
Are the Black ones really that much faster :hahaha:

Why dont you ask him
Nick Johnson is a member on here
I am sure there will be a reason why it is £500 more and i dont think black or grey has any thing to do with it :hahaha:
And yes the black 1s are faster :gayfight:

Mate, i'm rarely careful or boring either driving the CSL for the very same reasons that you mention, but on the odd occaision when i have had to travel long distances (e.g. to the Ring), i have had a genuine 350 miles range (according to the trip comp) - no devil's diesel involved! :blalalala:

I have been to see one of Nick Johnsons cars and he is a top guy. He shows you how the car should be driven with the SMG box (not like when you go to a BMW dealer and the sales guy thinks he knows how to use the SMG box) and I would of bought the one I test drove if the lower mileage one from BMW I did buy was not available.
I would have no worries doing business with Nick
Hope this helps

Ask derek for some of the details about dealing with Nick Johnson. He outlined a few of the issues in a thread on here but that thread has now been deleted. Like I said, 'caveat emptor'. And I mean it in it's most literal sense.

No chance! I'm far too sensible for that. :blalalala:

Nick Johson's is ok, you get to see a lot of CSLs. I would argue that there is no real benefit with buying a car over him than a private seller though.

I have to second that! He let me have a 'proper' test drive in a SB CSL and took the time to explain a lot of stuff when BMW dealers annoyingly know so little about the car!
I found his cars a tad pricey with their non-AUC warranty so i bought mine private sale in the end, but he's a nice guy for sure.

Yep give him a chance. A fair few have purchased from him and are pleased and OK sounds like Bravo73 isn't a fan but go and see for yourself I say......make your own mind up.
Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware.....surely that includes every car you go and look at before buying.

i had no issues with Nick, i just made the comment that i knew one of the cars had an accident, Nick didn't think it had. i just about bought it from a main dealer. I had an rac inspection on the car, apart from the accident it was a good car 18 months ago. I only posted because of how i felt when i just about bought the car
