Was a sandwich filling on the M25 (not my fault) and the extensive damage has been repaired by a dealer very near to Guildford. I am still waiting for a front bumper to finish things off, and was told another CSL was in the same situation as me in the same garage........anyone from here?
PS My accident was on May 15th. In Garage May 16th.....I've been waiting FIVE AND A HALF MONTHS!!!! :bigcry:
What does a CSL look like?
I've tried every emotion at the dealers, its just a wait and see. Of course I took it to a BMW dealer for repair 'cos they can get the parts, can't they?
Any advice?
Really miss the beast

Why so long? Is it just the parts?

not suprised, the front Csl bumper is totally out of stock at Bmw GmbH warehouse, stock has been sold to Bmw fans, or dealer using VIN numbers to acess and order the Csl part because they are 100% carbon, light and cheap compared to a spacial order or much better than second quality and fake carbon bumper.
Bmw need a certain amout of order to let make an other serial of bumpers and launch fabrication (done in slovenia of Csl parts)
it took me 3.5 month to get a carbon splitter...
Normally According to CEE and EEE laws, Bmw should be able to provide parts until 10 years after stopping the production of the model under an certain amount of time.
You can write and complain to bmw Munich about that, it's not normal to wait for sutch part for a car that had and has a certain value new/second hand, bmw might make a move for you in compensation
they should at least provide you a car for free when it's delayed over a month

to be honest I I had to wait that length of time I would be giving the dealer 2 options.
1) provide a similar performance courtesy car (Any M car would do)
2) give my car a standard M3 bumper so I could use it whilst waiting for the CSL one to come in.

After the accident, I had a replacement car provided by Accident Exchange. This was a 630i Sport Convertible with 50 miles on the clock. No complaints there! after about 3 and 1/2 months it needed a recall, so instead of arranging that, AE swopped the car for a brand spankers M3 Convertible (DCT etc), so no complaints there either!!
However, the insurers who insured the person who was at fault started squeaking to BMW after 5 Months about the amount they were paying (the M3 was just under £400 A DAY and the 630i a little less). Figure that out for 5 months!
Anyway BMW now supply me (2 weeks now) with a car which is an X3 2.0D.Not quite the same as recently driven but i'm enjoying the frugality!
Will a 'normal' M3 bumper fit?
Is your car an SG?
I know of a freshly painted one for sale

He He!
Anyone know the BMW parts contact in Munich? I feel a direct approach is required, short of invading Poland.

I'm afraid it wont be good news on the bumper, I waited 5 months then gave up and fitted an aftermarket one, glad I did, its a lot stronger than the OEM.
I had a minor (sub 4mph) hit and it caused £7k worth of damage as the OEM CF one just collapsed and the Focus went straight through the crash structure and both rads. Damage to the Focus - naff all. After market ones are cheaper and stronger (same weight).
Darren was without his car for 4 months, total hire car claim from the insurance company - £46k, no wonder our insurance premiums are silly.

6 months now, and the latest deadline for delivery (14th) has come and gone without the dealer contacting me, although before he said that after the 14th the 28th is the next possible date.........just like the other 8 or 9.
Thinking of going to the CAB or Consumers Direct. Any other suggestions?
Of course the insurance ran out in September (May to Sep. wasted), the MOT runs out the end of this month (May to November wasted) and I just got the warranty renewal paperwork (May to November wasted)!!
Easyjet to Munich?
Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers

not too sure how it works there in the UK... but I think if the insurance has already given you a car to drive around as a subsitute (sadly not a CSL), they also would have paid the MOT and the insurance on that car fir you free of charge, right?
I would hate to be in your position though... and I think it is ridiculous to wait 6 months for a bumper... they should really stock them up! We are geniune CSL owners! Writing a letter or an e-mail to BMW UK might help?!
This really makes me feel like to stock up a bumper or two though myself...

Nov.14th deadline came and went and I now have got another 'leaving Germany on the 21st' line. Heard that about 3 times.
I have now , on the advice of the trading standards authority (Consumer direct) written to BMW UK and the dealer demanding some sort of closure. I hope this will kick start something.
Either they make these things or not....I don't want to start frequenting the X3 2.0 Dieselregister.com!!
Might call the AA tomorrow as well. See what they think.
The saga continues.

Got it today!! Only 7 months and 4 days since the cars arrival at the garage. Seems a heck of a way to deal with stone chips.....
Feels like I've got a new car.

How much did it cost again?
I might just order one anyway as an insurance policy. Must be virtually impossible to loose money on it!

Glad to hear you got her back
Take it steady out there, i had a full twitch on earlier today whilst travelling at a brisk (:D) pace in a straight line - quite scary for the second it lasted - thankfully the car kept going in a straight line after alittle correction (possibly more luck than skill!!!)

I think bmw dealers should really be more strict in terms of selling CSL parts to any non csl owners, so they have more stocks for genuine owners who need those items in unforeseen circumstances....

Quite agree!!!

Also agree. The car was never sold in the US yet there are hundreds of CSL parts over there. I don't blame the Yanks for wanting the bits for their M3s, but there are probably more people after parts over there than the amount of CSL owners collective in the UK!

Glad to hear youve got it back.
Id say there's more people after the parts over there than there is collective of CSL owners world wide - they're obsessed. :birdman:
Back ends really twitchy in this weather, makes the drive more entertaining :smt055

There is a much simpler solution that trying to get BMW to vet people buying parts, after all I could go and buy 4 bumpers or any other CSL parts and sell them to the US.
The simple solution is (shock) for BMW UK to order parts as the stock levels start getting low and for BMW Germany to hold more stock and make stuff more often.
I'm probably going to sell my front bumper - Any idea what they go for?

Nathan,
why are you selling your CSL front bumper? Broken in anyway?

I will always buy the smaller parts, interior, front splitters off ebay so I have spares.....just in case.....thats when I don't get outbid by someone on here

Not broken, going racing so thinking about buying either a cheap replica or something different.

Thanks guys for all the messages. Really is great to have it back. It looks like a new car and drives much better (IMHO) than the new M3s that I was loaned. Absence certainly did make the heart grow fonder! Well worth the wait.
Just got to change the sill plates now............
