Does anyone have any images they can upload of a CSL with spacers fitted - ideally 13mm/15mm or even 20mm??

I've got 10mm spacers on the fronts (to clear the BBK), but I am having trouble loading up photos at the moment.
When I get that sorted, I will do.

Thanks everyone, esp David and Shimmy - great pics and give me exactly the idea i was looking for.
Quick question - would i be able to get away with running 20mm spacers on OEM csl wheels both front and rear with standard suspension settings. If so, will i need to roll out the arches??

What gains to you get fitting spacers....apart from the looks does it improve handling as the wheels are pushed out or is it just looks.

it improves stability, the gavity center play less around better handling
but only on dry, on wet you have to remove spacers and ajust the suspensions setting, softer coilovers and release play on swaybars

Theres been quite a few people who have advised me that it will not do much if anything to the handling - and obviously they will put extra stress on certain parts over time - i am doing it purely for aesthetics to bring the wheels out into the arches more - but if it has a huge negative effect on handling then i will remove them. Im wanting to go to 20mm spacers front and back - but i need to know whether i will get away with this in terms of clearance etc???

IMO looks just right with the 12mm setup.
What do they look like close up? It used to really annoy me on my old M Coupe that the hub part of the brake discs corrode, making the spacers look really obvious.

GT - had snow where i live last night too!!! All gone now but car was covered early this am!! Anyway, im waiting on a call back from Roy at CA about both the Rogue Limiter Kit and also the Eibach spacers he sells. Im looking at the 20mm spacers that bolt to th hub and therefore means you can use your own wheel bolts as they bolt to the spacer itself. They are about £90 per pair. I just need to know if there is any clearance issue with a stock suspension set up as i dont intend to add coilovers for at least a few months anyway. They are all on the CA website - check them out and let me know what you think?? How many days left til D day!!????

the max for spacer at the back is 12 mm (front 16mm). more and it's possible but you will have contact between the tyre and the body...that was the case if i remember well with david at dijon's track when he was driving hard in corner! (he has got 16 mm spacer with original csl wheels...). I prefer his new configuration(very beautiful and look racing) with his black CH wheels, before it was looking too much, "more is enemy of well"

Could i go 16mm at the back???
david
29-10-2008, 12:58 PM
16mm is ok with cups and PS2 and other tires, I have yokohama Advan with rims protection sont they are slithy larger and it's touchy in sharp and ruff corners, on cups and standard tires, fits perfect, no problems
12mm is probably the best
spaces are in aluminium, son it wont rust of look bad and it's easy to clean.

Ok - ive just ordered 12mm spacers all round. Thought i would err on the side of caution in terms of size and also i intend to have coilovers fitted in the new year and these spacers will be used then.
Only thing im struggling trying to find now is a LOCKING WHEEL NUT in 12mm - any ideas who might have a set of 4???

Try CA, when i had my spacers previously they could supply nuts and locking nuts.

Yes CA have the Mcguard ones - but they are bloody expensive!!!

there is nothing expensive for a Csl.... what's 50£ against 4 Csl rims gone during the night.... no gamble.... :smt064

Yes i hear what you are saying - but just because the bolts are "Thatcham Approved" doesnt mean they wont go walkabouts any less than a normal locking wheel bolt - they simply create more annoyance for the thief. The way i look at it is if they are going to that much trouble to crack a locking nut then they can have them. There must be cheaper bolts that do the same job??
david

well point of view, I had a cheap set, few weeks later oxydation took place on them they became grey and the sort of chrome layer starter to come off. Rust appeared.. A rusty lock nut with 4 BBS quality nuts doesn't look good to me... after it's a choice.
Personnally I'm a thief I see good look nut's, I pass my way, I see cheap lock nut's or easy design, I'll have a try even if I damage the rims I don't care.... it comes or not.... whatever, let's give it a try..

interestingly i tried 12mm all round on two trackdays this year and found to my surprise the car felt better handling on the limit, and better balanced rathert han understeer. Not sure if it is me adjusting my driving style but nonetheless it did feel better.
Even better than that (have stock suspension so cant adjust) the wet tiem at Snetterton last moth i still had Cups and spacers on and the car felt loads better tahn in the wet before. No idea again if thats me or the car but there you are.
Saying that my track rims seem to have welded themselves to the spacers now so i think i will be keeping them on!

Yes, point taken about the cheap bolts corroding - think i'll ask Roy for a set of Mcguards.
Shim - thats great news that you found it improved your set up on track.

Thanks

H&R Only my friend
A little more expensive than other makes but they are 100% and engineered for quality.
Had a few sets over the years. Last set been on for 3 years and wheel balance is perfect.

I ended up with 15mm all round, black KW spacers (made in the same factory / supplier as H&R)
They are now branded ST, but the same quality. Just ordered a set for my Q sleeper, Chipped 330d Touring ;)
Will try and find some pics ...
