Changed my plans as I really do need to get some use out of my JK, so looking to go to Ring tomorrow on a pm sailing/train, not booked as yet but with a trailer Ferry looks more favourable cost wise.
Will be doing Ring Sat 1st Oct Sun and Mon (German Bank holiday so dont assume the Ring will be quiet). Will be driving back via Spa on Monday night to listen to some tales of woe after the first TD !
Will stay over in Spa Monday night, and head home Tuesday morning.
If anyone has any probs give me a call as I could always throw the CSL off the trailer, and load your car up. I will also have some spare coils an board, and spare wheels and tyres if anyone needs help. mob 07768633717 email me duncan@projectorlifting.co.uk

Took it through the translater :clown:

On Sunday afternoon around 14:00 h, it came on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in a tourist trip to a serious traffic accident in which a total of eight vehicles were involved. The riders came from several European countries, where the accident apparently took place in two phases.
The cause of the accident was probably caused by speeding. Thus, in the "Bergwerk" section a construction company set up by a so-called speed hopper. While three drivers realized this, a fourth driver from England was trying to brake a side collision with a car driving ahead but not prevent. He then hurled into the median strip and about 50 yards back on the road. Here he met with or against the other two cars driving ahead.
The so-playing accident situation were recognized by three other riders and they were able to slow down their cars. Another car, called the ring taxi crashed, but against a decelerating the car. Then came the ring taxi or against any other car on the left side of the road and came to a halt. Be he had brought to a hospital in Koblenz, a driver seriously injured: assessment of the accident. Two other charioteers slightly injured, they were able to leave a hospital outpatient treatment.
There was property damage of more than 100,000 €. The police made several hours Adenau was busy with the accident recording. To determine the exact course of events one valuer was involved.

Jugging from the pix by the extent of damage, I presume the "English" driver would be the one with the White M3 Coupe who piled into the other cars :banghead: soon followed by the Ring Taxi M3 4 door doing the same :banghead: Bad day for M3 drivers @ the Ring.

From reading all the relevant forums it seems the blame is turning more and more in the direction of the "Ring :clown: Masters" for inadequate warning sinage of the road works in what is a fairly fast & tricky corner ( Kesselshen not Bergwerk as originally reported ) which has caught out a few car in the past, including VLN Racers, without the additional hindrance of a Road works crew and their useless "too little too late" warning sign :banghead:
A bunch of Lawyers will make a small fortune out of this one.

Blatant negligence on the workers behalf.

But in this country if you are going round a blind bend and you then smash into a stopped car, its your fault. Not driving to the conditions, slow down for blind bends etc.

50/50 in my view- you take your risks. If it was on a UK track then IMO blame would lie completely with the organisers/marshalls etc.

But, people forget that the ring on a TF day is still a public road, and you "should" drive to the conditions.

145mph round a blind bend is hardly safe driving is it?

whopwop
05-10-2011, 10:56 AM
Really very little warning before the roadworks which played a hugh part in the accident although they will claim that locations of works are displayed above the safety video at the track entrance.

[QUOTE=

Maybe so but that is exactly what most of us do when out there, you have no idea what is round the next corner, I cannot tell yo uthe ammount of times I have come round a bend to find someone sideways across the track.
I could be wrong but its my understanding that in that instance (out there) its the fault of the guy across the track, causing the accident.
You can bet your ass that the ring taxi will be claiming off one of the T.F. cars and not the company carrying out the works.

What a week-end of carnage, and even I got lucky on the Monday when 2 cars came together at 90 mph in front of me. Got it on vid but not posting it which is a shame as Tankslapper and I were on a decent lap given the traffic we carved through, and still posted an 8:25. No injuries in the crash in front of me, so I did the only decent thing to do at the Ring if its abvious no one is hurt and thats fook off out of it ! I want no involvement whatsoever with something that doesnt involve me directly, too much specualtion, too much distortion, too much forum bollocks gets turned over by people who werent there and didnt see it, so my advice is as above, no injuries ?, no direct involvement ? no stop.
We drove past the poor marshall on the Saturday who was bowled over by a car as he flagged the incident which was a car fire at AF.
The greedy money grabbing twats running the Ring now imho opinion are riding on the edge of a Corporate Manslaughter charge if things dont change. The sooner their contract/lease ends the better.
Its a Racetrack when they want it to be and a Public road when it suites, and probably a whole manner of things in between.
With regards to the 8 car pile up, I would be looking at the German regulations for temporary road markings and their required setup distances etc., they needed signage that sloooowed people down well before the incident, not panic them into slamming the brakes on and causing havoc.
We happened to be watching at Breidscheid , and taking a cheeky Ice Cream on board when that gaggle of cars came through all together, 2 abreast all the way up around Ex Muhle, and I commented then "that will end in tears" .. you could tell from the speed and car language that that group werent giving in to anyone, which is probably why the accident happened, so intent on keeping their track position etc. that they didnt look at the bigger picture looming up in front of them when the lead vehicles hit the brakes. Could have been a whole lot worse that one.
There doesnt seem to be a report about the poor biker who probably lost his leg sadly on Monday in another crash.
My other personal opinion for what its worth, if its a German Bank Holiday, let them have their fookin track to themselves.

Agree with that. I was there at the 'Ring and met Duncan R and TankSlapper as they were staying at the same hotel (my CSL is M3 TBV) and I was with my mate Jason (the guy at Spa with JCG).

After not being able to get on the track on Sunday, I went down early on the Monday and was about 5 cars away from getting a few laps in the morning when they shut the track again for 3 hours due to a pile up. At that point, cut my losses and went home, disappointed but CSL in one piece. Probably not doing tourist days there again - only closed circuit days. If anyone wants to buy a ring card with 4 laps on it from me, let me know - still got it from the weekend.

Lesson leant that. Trackdays and weekday TF only for me from now on.

Still, massive thanks to DuncanR and Shimmy for hooking a brother up with new Cup tyres whilst out there and therefore saving my weekend, which redeemed itself with Spa on Tuesday.

Cool white paintjob. Looks great. I should have come said hello.

Ive never driven with Cups in the wet so i probably had some crazy 1000km stare going on and white knuckles. Spa was epic, but the wet weather certainly makes you concentrate through eau-rouge eh! Must do it again.
