Also choose to strengthen the coupling between two parts on the CAE shifter arm that goes from the gearbox to the stick. It's originally pressed together as shown below, but we welded the parts together so it wouldn't start sliding in the future.

So i'm back in Norway after two amazing days at the Nürburgring. The weather was incredible, the car felt great, people was nice. All in all just perfect. This was the first test for the M3-R. It held up pretty good. Didn't start that good though. On the first lap i had a terrible vibration in the front. Cause I use spacers up front, i didn't get the wheel centered when putting it on. I dropped the spacer and the vibration went away. On the second lap this happened... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uXVC5GuFWE
The new bumper couldn't manage the downforce it produced so it crashed when i got over 200km/h. Had to cut it a bit. On the third lap i felt the car wasn't running cleen when accelerating. Popped the engine cover, and it turned out to be a coil that wasn't propperly in place. Changed that and everything runned smooth. I suffered from high oil temp the entire two days, so i couldn't push very hard, had to short shift and use half trottle on the climbing parts and straights. I've ordered a oil diverter valve so all of the oil will be running through the oil cooler in the future. Hoping that will fix it. The servo pump kicked the bucket after two hard days, going to buy a new one and hoping it will last in the future. So to sum it up, it was some small problems in the start of the first day. After lunch on the first day everything went smooth, and the second day went great. The servo didn't cause any down time on the car, only made my overarms pretty big... http://www.trackculture.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif Big thanks to destination Nürburgring for the best trackday ever!
Here's a couple of pics and a vid where a friend riding shotgun. (Sorry for the bright video, the weather was just to good for the gopro cam.. http://www.trackculture.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif )

Hi!
Don't know exactly, but about 105.. The limit on the tracks in Norway is 100 so i changed back to stock exhaust..Did you try the Supersprint Race Lightweight aka SSRLW ??? Weight is only 6 kilos more then the Gruppe M.

My Gruppe M is now at 109 (burned out after 5 year Nürburgring...), so I have there to drive away fron the Gate very nicely ;)

For street I used a SSRLW, last year we controlled the "sound" aka noise, it' was at 98db, also after 5 years use.

To explain: On Nürburgring I use the Gruppe M, when I in Switzerland I use the SSRLW, the exhaust change is easy done, cause there are only 3 screws to undo and both exhausts are not heavy as the stock one.

setra
01-05-2012, 10:53 AM
Good to know. I actually changed back to stock partly because of the weight. My car needs to weigh 1400kg with me in it due to GT regulations and it was a little light with the groupe M. So i thought it was a nice place to ad weight.

New update...
Installed the new race series steering package from PeeBee motorsport. A great product giving the car a much more direct steering, increasing steering feel and feedback, and giving less camber loss when cornering. Pluss it weights more then 3.5lbs less then stock steering.

The rims are 9,5x18 ET35 front and 10x18 ET25 rear. I run 25/64-18 tires front and 27/65-18 rear. The 6 pot ap's are not a problem, i run them my self.
However, i had to use 5mm spacers up front to clear my intrax coilovers, didn't need spacers to clear the motons i had before...
I'm pretty sure they'll fit a csl with cup tires. You can call eddy@apexraceparts on number 001-925-245-0773. He's very helpfull and will answer any of your questions.

Bought them directly from Apex in US.

It's fun, that's for sure :) This video was recorded after my out lap so the tires was cold, and this set of slicks had over 440 miles on them. So as you can see the grip just wasn't there...

Thought i'd update this thread a bit..
To start it off, here's a couple of trackpictures from last year.

It's winter in Norway, and that means less driving time and more garrage time.
ESS tuning used my car to make a new upgrade to my supercharger kit. This kit is called VT2-575, and is suppose to make 575 crank hp.
Turned out to be make about 630hp instead. Here's a dyno chart and a picture from when it was strapped to the dyno.

There's one thing i've really been missing on my car. That's a rear wing. The more i've thought about it, the more incomplete the car has looked to me. So now i've stepped up and ordered a "Elite wing" from Brooks Motorsport. The wing is suppose to ship within next week, and I must say i'm quite excited about this part. It's looks pretty much like the one in this picture.
http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w364/setramotorsport/9c75406501-vinge_zps7bb827aa.jpg

During last season I experienced some fuel starvation problems in right hand corners. Starting from about 1/4 of full tank. To be able to save some weight by running less fuel, i've ordered a fuel starvation kit from Bimmerworld. What this kit does, is ad a second fuel pump that pumps fuel over to the part of the fuel tank that the original fuel pump sits. Hopefully this will work.

I've also ordered this roof vent to help out with cabin temperatur.
http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w364/setramotorsport/QCROOFVENT_zpsfe7e3608.jpg

Well, that's about it. I might end up ordering a set of stiffer spring for my intrax suspension, but i've yet to decide.

You mean to fill it up?

I think he means the longer pipe.

I personally think for a non-racing car it's better to run the tank full because the fuel cools down the pump.

Okay. A little update.
Got a sweet package from Intrax. New springs with the rate of 400lbs front and 200 lbs rear. Had 260lbs front and 130lbs rear before.
Here's a picture.

Also installed the fuel starvation kit from Bimmerworld. Didn't take any pictures during the install, but here's a picture of the top of the new fuel pump. What you see is the new line that goes to the original fuel pump. Sorry for the bad pic.

Here's a picture of the new oil lines that goes to the oil cooler. Hopefully they will keep the flow better then the ones I had before.

The Brooks Elite wing arrived the other day. Must say I'm impressed with how it looks. I'm not sure if the boot lid will hold the force that it creates, so I think i'm going to reinforce it a bit before testing it on track.

In the last stint of the year i managed to run a new personal best at Rudskogen racetrack. 1:32,3 is five seconds better then what i ran last year, so I'm pleased with the progress I've done this year. Here's a video of the lap.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGMM8G9poSI

As you might see/hear in the video there's a few things that needs to be done with the car. There's no servo and the diff is destroyed. That leads me into my plans for the winter.

The engine is already pulled out of the car and sent to an expert for a built. Forged low compression pistons and rods are going in together with a bigger supercharger, fuel lines and fuel pumps. The target is in the 800hp range.
Here's a picture from disabling.
http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w364/setramotorsport/Foto0531_zps9ed0e130.jpg

The diff will probably be replaced with a OS giken multi clutch style diff, together with 4,10 gears.

Also I'll be changing out the power steering to a electrical pump from a Mercedes A class.

The worn OEM bushing will be replaced with solid ones at the rear of the car. Also going to install PeeBee camber arms.

Dive planes will add some more downforce at the front.

That's about it... For now..

Okay, time to update this thread again. Alot have happened so I'm going to use alot of pictures and videos instead of alot of text.

First:
Instead of having my old engine built, I bought a built engine from England.
Got a great deal on the engine together with a used supercharger kit.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w364/setramotorsport/20140315_142502_zpsca924e7e.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w364/setramotorsport/20140519_111331_zps8a055ac8.jpg

Started up the engine and took it for a small drive....
Turned out that it was a knocking sound in the engine I got from England.

Took the oil filter apart and found pieces of metal inside it.
http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w364/setramotorsport/20140523_222031_zpsc235107e.jpg

Took the bottom part of the engine to inspect the rod bearings, rods and crank.
http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w364/setramotorsport/20140529_130251_zpsa545f846.jpg

Unfortunately we had some mechanical issues as well. A bushing to the diff came loose the first day
http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w364/setramotorsport/20140702_141939_zpse3e03406.jpg

I was lucky and got in touch with a local raceteam that had a new bushing in stock so they changed it for me and I was ready for the next day.

On the second day I did some runs but after a while a power steering hose burst and I was stranded on the side of the course. The rescue guys was unbelivable quick and checked if we we're okay within a minute. Big creds.
Got the car loaded up on the rescue truck.
