I had a Milltek backbox on my old E46 M3, but couldn't live with the drone at 2500rpm, even though it was one of the later versions that were supposed to be less droney than the original design. It just became horrible to drive the thing around town.

Supersprint, no question.

I have had 2 M3's and 2 CSL's.
One had miltek, it boomed,
One had a later miltek, it boomed too
one had supersprint race lightweight,
one had a titanium system
The titanium was higher in pitch, but cruising was far quieter than the supersprint. Far more crisp and raspy sound,
The supersprint was boomy compared to the titanium.
I kept having to drop to fifth to shut the fucker up, as some on here will agree. Wheras the ti was nice and quiet cruising at any revs once warm, no boom.
If money no object go ti, esp if weight saving, as it was far lighter than all the rest.
If you are trying to change noise then the best sounding I reckon, is race cats with standard middle/back section.
but to answer original question, Supersprint.

I've had a couple of SS race lightweight, centre and cat, and no issues at all except slight drone below 3000
I had Bealos Milltek for a while on his car and was pleasantly surprised, very little drone which seems unusual.
I think ideal is 100cell cats and race let back box from SS

My Milltek boomed, first one moreso than the second. Both the 'revised' versions.
Supersprint - Yes, little bit of a drone around 2.7K RPM but other than that, a cracking sounding exhaust.
I did have a GruppeM (titanium) on mine for a while but it was MAD loud and din't last too long. CSLGirl Lesa has one on hers and swears by it, but I was using the car day to day and the neighbours couldn't stick it.

I've had both too - Supersprint is the more pleasing sound - no question

How much better does the Race sound compared to the standard supersprint box!
Iv'e read it's slightly louder but still ok for trackdays etc if your running standard cats.
Cheers Matty.

With 100cell cats and race back box I never had any issues with noise on track including Bedford.
With resonated centre section the drive by at Bedford can get close or tip the meter on some days, but everywhere else you should still be ok.
Keeping OEM cats you'll be fine
