Sadly the time has come, currently trying to purchase my first house and just been informed this week that we are at risk of redundancy at work, so i'll need the money either way :bigcry:
Advert:
Regretful sale of my immaculate M3 CSL, only for sale due to impending house purchase, if I can finance the deposit using other means this advert will be withdrawn.
If you're looking for a cheap CSL just for the sake of owning one then I'd look elsewhere. If however you want an immaculate example that's been owned and maintained by people who can afford to give it the care it needs without cutting corners then read on.
Despite the high mileage, this CSL drives perfectly, it is tight, extremely responsive and is a real credit to its previous owners. I strongly advise viewing one with low mileage as a benchmark before seeing this, you will be amazed.
Background:
The previous owner purchased this CSL in early 2009 when it had just 40,000 miles on the clock. He owned a business in Belgium, and as a result, in less than 2 years he put 67,000 motorway miles on the car driving to and from Belgium on a weekly basis.
Simpson Motorsport (BMW CSL and motorsport specialists) knew the previous owner, so they brought the car off him and prepared it for sale. They sorted all the common CSL problems like the airbox flap potentiometer and a stone-chipped front end, as well as giving it an extended Inspection II service. Anything that needed sorting or replacing was done here.
Initially I looked for a CSL with around 40k miles on it, but after seeing this example and comparing it to other CSL’s that were at Simpson’s at the time (7 in total!) it was apparent that the condition reflected that of a 40,000 mile example and it made no sense to pay another £5000 just to have a smaller number on the clock.
Car:
2004 ‘04’ Plate (29/06/2004 registered)
Silver Grey
109,850 miles
I won’t bore you with a list of all the standard CSL options, as I'm sure you'll know what they are.
Optional Extras:
Air Conditioning
BMW Business Radio/CD player
Parking Distance Control system
Tyre pressure monitors
Top Tint Windscreen
Service History:
The service schedule has been carried out at BMW until its 75,000 miles, after which, the previous owner had it serviced privately through his business so this is not documented in the service history. Simpson Motorsport assured me that the service schedule had been followed, and the mechanical condition of the car confirms this.

General information:
Number of previous keepers: 5
Mot: 6th September 2012 (no advisories on MOT)
Tax: 31/02/2012 (only £245)
Wheels/tyres:
Fully refurbished professionally at great expense by Lepsons so these are as new
19" front - 235/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 6/7mm of tread
19" front - 265/30/19 Michelin Pilot Supersport Sport 6mm of tread
Bodywork:
Bodywork is outstanding, genuinely not a scratch on the car. Front has been resprayed to remove all stone-chips etc as CSL’s suffer badly from this due to the rigidity of the carbon fiber bumper. There is one very small imperfection in the paint on the front bumper, which will be corrected before sale – when I say this I am being very picky, you can just about see it below the passenger side indicator in the photos.
Chassis:
The bootfloor/subframe issue that will happen to every CSL at some point in its life has already been addressed. If you are not familiar with this then simply Google ‘e46 M3 Subframe crack’ and you’ll find everything you need to know.
The repair was carried out at Chandlers BMW in Brighton only a few months ago, and is a first class job. They were hesitant about honoring the warranty repair due to the gap in BMW service history, however after seeing the condition of the car BMW UK authorised the full warranty repair. This is a £5000 job at BMW if they don’t authorise the repair under warranty.
Interior:
Excellent, the alcantara still cleans up like new with little effort (I have some special alcantara cleaner/protector that I’ll include in the sale). The steering wheel is slightly bobbled, but this is almost unavoidable on the CSL without having it recovered every year! The only other imperfection is the aluminimum sill guards which are slightly milky in places, but this is very common and new sill guards can be purchased from BMW.
In summary, I can honestly say you will not find a better example anywhere near this price point, I looked at many examples when I brought mine - I didn't buy on price or mileage, just condition.
All documents present, I'll also issue a new HPI report for the buyer.
Thanks for reading, any questions, please don't hesitate to ask, however I’m sure you’ll find most of the answers above.
Regards,
James
