A friend is interested in buying a CSL, preferably in SG like mine as he is fully aware they are the faster ones ;)

Cotswold Hereford have a CSL with this plate VU04 LUZ up for sale at £29,950 (!) :

Registered June 2004
41,775 miles
Automatic Air Conditioning
BMW Business RDS
Floor mats. velour
Park Distance Control (PDC). front and r
Rain sensor with auto. headlight activat
Single-Disc CD Player
Windscreen with green shade band
Xenon headlights

Does anyone know of this car and/or its history. Planning to give them a call tomorrow, but any information from here would be great.

Thanks,
ps - here is a link to their AUC page, can't get a direct link: http://www.cotswoldherefordbmw.co.uk/approved-used-bmw/

Don't know the car but there is no such thing as front parking sensors on a CSL :)

Pricey for mileage, but AUC good

Buy on condition & service history

Cheers Azrael, agree with you on price. In comparison, per olly22n's purchase a few weeks back which I am sure was in great condition (46k miles, £25.5k incl. 2yr warranty), this one is very pricey.

re: front sensors, was being lazy last night and just copy/pasted the spec from the ad. I assume BMW don't have the option to just include rear sensors whichever way they construct the advert.

I am no CSL expert, but bar a grubby steering wheel, mine seems to be in superb condition.

I suspect that I caught them at the end of quarter and needing a quick sale (it was one of the conditions of them accepting my offer was that it was paid for before end of Aug).

I have no problem with prices being higher though!

good luck with your search!

Cheers olly. I agree, I think you got a great deal and the 2yr warranty makes it even better !!!

I also have no problem with prices increasing, though I believe my friend would like to buy before prices do go up too much!

hey olly - out of interest what did the dealership you purchased your CSL from have it listed for?

Seems like there is a huge margin slapped on to CSLs from dealerships!

+1. Don't mean to state the obvious but things like discs/pads, tyres, sevice I I, etc can run in to thousands.

To add:

Mine had a Insp 2 5k ago, virtually new PS2's all round and the ap's discs and pads have plenty of meat left.

no way is it worth the £30K unless there is £5k in the boot.

I think yours was very cheap tbh

Surprised it hung around as long as it did!

From your post above it sounds like you got an even better deal!

HFlagos - I hope you don't mind but I called the dealer up to find out more as I too am looking for a SG CSL.

I'm a little worried about the gap from 2006-2010 - not sure what to make of it.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

here is the Service History

The vehicle was sold and supplied by Wallaston Motors BMW (Dealer 13220) on 16/05/2004 before it left the dealer it whent through it's Pre-deliver check and
was recorded in the service book.

The vehicle 1,203 miles later on 09/09/2004 recieved a running in service check at Wallaston Motors BMW, this is also recorded in the service book.

20/04/2005 @ 11,448 miles the vehicle recieved an oil change service and mico filter change at Wallaston Motors BMW

12/06/2006 @ 24,809 miles the vehicle recieved an inspection service and micor filter change at Wallaston BMW

01/04/2010 @ 36878 miles the vehicle recieved an oil change serive and Micro filter at North Oxford BMW (Dealer 15150)

It looks right on services and mileage, but it didn't do a lot of miles over 4 years. There are plenty of garage queens out there though...

Did it have a time-based brake fluid change in there somewhere as well ? Try and HPI check to see if it that gives you more data ?

Cheers for this buddy, certainly don't mind at all!

Will speak to my mate about it today, 4 yr gap is interesting. BMW Warranty folks normally kick up a fuss if the gap between services (regardless of mileage) is over 2 years.

Even with the low miles over those 4 years it should have has at least an oil service in 2008, as well as brake fluid change.

It is missing a service.

The oil needs changed every 2 years even if it is not used but if it comes from a BMW dealer they must be cool with it.

The prices are going up so 29k sounds about right and with a bit haggling 28k is a good price if it has 2 years warranty that's another 2k making it 26k :supz:

I am with you Lawsy but If the car is in storage and not running its should be ok

But if BMW are ok with it that's all that matters.

Reminds me of when I was driving down Harpenden high street in my old 911 a couple of years ago, nice sunny day, my 8-year old boy in the passenger seat. He says "Dad, why is that guy waving at you? Do you know him?". I look up to my right and there's some bloke, mid-forties, in his Mondeo, doing this :wanker:.

Don't get that in a CSL.

Had that day 2 of 911 ownership. Sitting at 70 on the A1 minding my own business and some pondlife pulls alongside in his rusted old people carrier. Gives it the coffee beans and drives off. Gives you a nice warm feeling inside :smokin:

Never had any issues in the CSL.
