Driver training courses?

Hi,

I'm thinking that i'd like to get on a one day driver training course using the CSL to enable me to learn the car better at the limits on a closed course and be able to do 'stuff' in safety...! :clown: :smt077 :whistle:

I'm thinking of the following full day at £325:

I'm doing one with Don Palmer (got a voucher from the g/f for our anniversary) - wont be until next year now - proabably two weeks before i go back out to the ring ;)

I have done Driver DP, you use a skid pan and stuff.... good fun but not sure how much of a better driver you'll be. Good confidence building for going sideways though.

Thats what i need - i have very good judgment of where the limits are, but having owned AWD car's for the last 10 years i'm not so good at correcting tail end slides :whistle:

Its very good value actually, you also do an alpine style track. It is at the Prodrive centre.

yes i did an andy walsh car limits day in March this year and will do another in Spring 2009 so if anybody wants to fill up a 4 car day then join the party!!

best way is to go speak with him with 4 cars and bargain for £450 total rather than £199 a head

Im really tempted to do a Car Limits day (as recommended by Steve Gill above) - they have quite a few dates still available in November - its in Essex and i know the airfield they do it on and its a large area, good circuit. Just wondered if there were any other members on here that fancied joining me as it gets cheaper the more cars you have. Anyone interested???

Lol! They all look good, i'm probably gonna give the ddp course at Prodrive Kenilworth a shot, mainly due to location as i'll be passing on my way 'Oop North' to visit family in Yorkshire.

The date i'm looking at is Fri 28 Nov - i have time off work pre-booked already! :-D

Whilst up north, i may as well do the Oulton Park track day on Sat 29 Nov! You fancy joining me on that one? :beer:

I did a course with John Lyon a while back in my R34. he takes you to a track but on the journey he will instruct you about fast road driving then at the track he shows you more. When i went we go to Myra and Millbrook, very intensive course but great fun. Heres his site

When are you booked in?? Just got off the phone to him, looking to book something very soon, he recons now is the best time of year - i was going to book for next March (got a voucher off our lass)

I was booked on Friday 28th but Don had to bin that as Bruntingthorpe cancelled on him.

I'm now booked in to do it on Tuesday 2nd of December after a weekend visit to S.Yorks and track day at Donny :thumbs:

i think palmersport are great value and terrific fun BUT i wouldnt say you get much tuition, but rather encouragement to go faster

Not sure when i'm going to fit mine in, cars in for warranty work next week on my sticking flap :119: and besides that, i've ran out of holidays at work anyway :bigcry:

if you own a business you can put it down to driver training and pay thru the business which makes it a bit cheaper :thumbs:

not so easy with the palmersport option as more entertainment based
