Would like to of met up with some of you guys but unfortunatley I'm booked on the Goldtrack day on Monday Oct 10th.

I chose this as the ring is open all day on the Sunday and the mon / tues evenings.

Going with a few of the Noble lads as I did earlier in the year....... Just cant decide whether I need to sell a kidney to buy a BBK before I go or just stick with the Flexi's, Fluid and order a set of RS29,s

Matty.

i've got a set of front rs29's for std m3 calipers (think these are same as std csl) if you want to give them a try matty? just nicely bedded in, loads of life left in them.

remember my std m3 at the ring last time? was running better fluid/hoses and rs29s front, rs 421 rears. stopped really well for an inexpensive upgrade.

shim's right though, ap's are awesome if you can spend the money

still trying to get a pass for either spa trip. need to word this one carefully as off to the ring in 2 weeks, in fact will be starting to do laps at exactly at this time friday 16th afternoon

In fact, whilst im here, does anyone know of anyone selling any cups? im close to 2mm front and rear. Normally id take em down to the beads, but a sunday at the ring and then the tuesday at Spa is highly likely to rinse more than 2mm right?

So it'll be two days of TF accident-avoidance for me and then home on Monday evening. I'm going with my mate Jason who also has a CSL, and he's going on to Spa.

Anyone know any good M specialists in Hertfordshire? Got a tyre pressure warning light problem and also want them to give the car a once-over before the Ring.

Very good to meet you too. Car looks ace in White. Good to see Flow up to speed in the GT3.

What a busy few days! AlexGTT, ONeill and his better half Sarah, and I got the 8.20am Chunnel Train on Monday and made Spa by 1.30pm on what can only be described as a blisteringly hot day.

As soon as we saw the TVR Owners Club in attendance we knew we'd be able to sneak a space on the Monday as chances are 4/5 of them didn't even make the ferry out!

So we had lunch, got the cars ready and had 3 hours of marvellous Monday track time. We saw Craig, Teffers, Chris and the CD crew, Stevo from OPL in his beautiful 996GT3RS. Spent all day looking for Porsche to chase :supz: and managed to do a "Curly" on one up the end of Kemmel ;)

A few too many Stella in the evening and Tuesday was a late start as we had already signed on and had our briefing. Gorgeous early morning weather but busy on track and some slower cars which do hamper progress somewhat

Had a great little battle with a couple of 996 and 997 turbos, Kevin Maxted in a GTR and also with AlexGTt, ONeill, Titan. Saw a lot of 'Nick Nederlander' in his M3 with the pastachio leather :smt055:smt016

Also had some words with Uncle Benz and his family, thw Burrells and Tankslapper, CSLut, and a guy in CSL who'd been chatting to Dunc at the Ring (not sure of his name). Also Flow and Jurn were great company.

Wow lots of people and lots of miles and lots of Stella.

Even my ideal lap out of last 5 was 2m 52.0 :banghead:

Tough place for a clear lap your only chance is the last hour and half, did Flow give ya a hard time in the RS;)

No RS ,
I got a 996 GT3 CS ;) .

My fastest lap on video is a very high 2.51(or 2.52) during the morning while chasing a 997 GT3 . Could have been faster at some points and was a car a little bit in my way at blanchimont 1 .

Video , Gopro was not setup right so is not a good vid :banghead:

Last one is the fastest

Still learning how to drive the GT3 fast

Particularly ER and B2 where you tend to catch at if the slower and even faster cars and no way you can go past without loosing loads of time.

I think CSL could do sub 2m 50 but only with a more talented driver than me I fear! :bigcry:

Was great to meet you all, thanks for making me welcome as I kind of 'landed' in your garage for the afternoon  !

Think I screwed one of your best laps at the end Shimmy, then nearly went off at Bl2 trying to get out of the way.

Tyres are a bit goosed, running them stupidly high in the morning and understeering most of the afternoon due to combination of poor lines and car being standard. Thought I was getting the hang of it at the end, still a mobile chicane though :bigcry:

Hopefully see youse in the New Year again

I'm also not the most talented driver but i think a 2.50 in a CSL with the "basic" mods (exhaust , suspension , brakes) is a bit too fast . I think 2.51 would be a good target .
My "best" virtual lap (combination of best sector times) with the CSL would be a 2.51.7 .
And for me as a driver that is the fastest i could go with my CSL .
In the GT3 i did a 2.52 and i can improve that time on almost every corner , brake a little later , turn in a bit later ,...
I did not have that in the CSL . The GT3 is the better track car but the CSL is the better overall car
And nothing beats the air box sound

my your prob Nick, it's just always a pain when it is end of the lap and youv avoided traffic for 2m30. last thong I want to do is put you into the Armco (well second last thing after cracking 2m50 :) )

my best theoretcals are all 2m51-52 as well. I think only way of cracking it would be to find the skill to take ER and B2 significantly quicker

Great couple of days at Spa, good to meet some more CSL reg guys

Jurn, love the white, don't know about the roof rack strips though ;)

Good session paxing with Shimmy, chased down the orange 97RS, passed him, air con on, cooling down lap, he then came passed rather close before the Bus Stop, off went the indicator and gave chase again :hahaha: caught him up through Eau Rouge, on his bumper up Kemmel Straight, braking for the corner at the end flicked it right, passed him again :supz:

Fook drinking too many the night before again, Belgium beer's a bit strong.

I agree with you about csl and times at spa a 2.51-52 is the limit for the car on cups and light mods, without having some scares.

Fab Spa as usual. Good report from Shimmy so I won't repeat. Great to see everyone again and to meet some guys for the first time. Good company with O'Neill, Sarah, Nick and Steveo from PGT.

Had an absolute result getting 3 hours in on Monday as a bonus. Thanks to Shimmy I managed to get from 2min 57's into the 56's on regular basis and a couple for 55's in the last hour. Well chuffed with that and if I'm honest, as fast as I'd like to go for now. Finally managing to take ER at somewhere near decent pace now and definately have B2 sorted. Some excellent multi-CSL convoy laps, especially in the damp. :smokin:

No thanks at all to Shim for the 3rd gear Stavelot idea!:clown: Went a bit like this:

Alex "So, Shim, I short shift to 4th before entry to Stav. Do you do the same?"

Shim (wanker ;) ) "Nah, I stay in 3rd"

Alex "Really!!!"

Shim (tosser :clown: ) "Yeah! Try it, it's good"

Alex (gullible fucking wanker, tosser  ) "Mmmmm, OK I'll try that"

Cue Alex leading Shimmy and O'Neill on first few laps. I try the 3rd gear Stavelot idea and get the arse end twitching like a mutha f**ker going into, round and out of Stavelot!! I look back to see Shimmy's helmet rocking with the force of his laughter. :hahaha::hahaha: Bastid!

I laughed even more when I was behind and I saw you run wide at B2 onto a very wet kerb, spray kicking up, and me imagining you tryin your best not to press the go faster pedal and trying to hold here straight :smokin:

And tbh it was only when I managed to concentrate and get the corner speed up that I managed to shake you in the afternoon after it amazingly dried almost to perfect.

What I've learnt - When putting new suspension on, let it settle before doing a track day, otherwise the geo will look like this.

First image when fitted, looks good. Second image done today.

Pax with Shimmy, his car felt so stable through Eau Rouge mainly due to the driver and set up, mine didn't seem to dig in like Shimmy's, but didn't feel too bad. Looking at today's before settings I can see why, 2mm toe out on the left rear and camber's all over the place. That's my excuse for being so slow :hahaha: not too bad, still under 3 mins with passenger and a bit of traffic, should go better next year

I just looked at my version of that sheet from W-I-M earlier this year, and the target numbers on yours are quite different. I've got a target of 1deg30" for both front and rear camber, whereas yours is 1deg45" and 2deg00".

Did you ask them for more of a track geo than the standard settings ?

OK, makes sense. Mine was well out of whack before they adjusted it (it had some rear misalignment that meant you had to steer to the right all the time to go straight on!) but the steering is also much lighter afterwards, which I'm not so keen on. Might get them to have another bash at it sometime then.

2 seconds must make that pro a "back of the pack I have just bought this seat" pro.

A proper pro will be more than 2 seconds faster than us, if not you need to get ya ass in an f1 car and show Hamilton how it's done.

By pro I mean not necessarily a F1 driver, and not necessarily the back of the pack but some one who knows how to drive properly and has the touch.

2-3 secs is a lot Shane. On tracks I know better than other tracks, like Spa or Snett, 2-3 secs is lot of time in my car bearing in mind you can't drive it like a race car. Granted Spa maybe a little more than 2-3 due to it's length but that's probably 6-7 secs over lots of other CSL drivers.
