anyone any experience of running nitrogen in their csl.
Mines going in for air purge/nitrogen fill on monday and could do with an idea on tyre pressures
thanks mick

I run a 78% nitrogen mix

I'd get 32 stuck in them personally, they will still go up on track so you'll have to bleed some out to get your hot temps right, but that then means you can't inflate them to drive home unless you take some nitrogen with you?

I've run it a couple of times. Still took upwards of 5psi out when hot, so not that great in my experience.

Mick I got the same place as you are going to use to do mine. I noted no more tyre pressure stability.

Waste of time IMO esp from that place

This is actually quite interesting. I've looked at some notes I took a couple of years ago. The first time I used nitrogen, I went to Spa. In 30 degree ambient temps I was taking out only 3psi when fully up to speed.

The second time I used it, earlier this year, I took out at least 6-7psi.

Got nitrogen from different places, so conclude that some machines/systems are better than others. I wouldn't use again, as Lawsy said, waste of time. Quite happy to pump the tyres up after a TD to drive home.

Thanks guys, I won't bother then, really excited to get back out on track in the csl.
My last trackday in a csl was november 07 at an icy donnington:whistle:

Compressors by design tend to blow out 'wet' air anyway, so unless you can extract all the air and moisture from the wheel, then fill it only with dry nitrogen it's not worth doing IMO

I take my bike pump to blow mine up afterwards :smokin:

As Alex says, its only as good as the machine putting it in.

The machine that was used on mine was obviously not working very well. The pressure rise was still a lot, Jim can verify.

Im not discounting nitrogen just yet, as theoretically it has to work when filled correctly.

? Thats a wind up right Nath ??

Given that the composition of "air" is a below.

Not a wind up, I really do use air in my tyres.
