Hi
Had the chance to do a trackday at croft with a BMW club.
Car performed very well and seemed quick, had a few runs against a Gt3 and there wasn't much it in, also new M1 coupe didn't seem particular fast either. Had much more trouble against track prepared e36's with slicks and very well driven 335i estate, god I hope it was modified:bigcry:
First trackday for years, took it steady, but still managed to spin the car at top end of 4th gear, luckily croft has plenty of run off and a decent polish, a precautionary alignment has made the CSL look and drive better than before.
Did about 22 laps in total including warm up and cool downs, managed a 1:47, reckon I could knock a few seconds off with more practice and now that backend feels much more tied down after the alignment. I watched Duncan do 1:40 on this site and hoped I could get a bit closer, guess I need more practice and some upgrades.

i managed a quick 20min session after lunch and came up against that 335i estate, had to really try some in mine to match its pace and get past it, was definately well driven.

Well firstly big up to you for admitting it! As there were two CSLs there you had the chance to keep 'schtum'
But secondly if you think Cups were the difference you have to remember our race mx5 are n/a 1.6 130bhp (Crank) AND run on Hankook 'hard as nails' road tyres. :smokin:

I've no problem admitting it, I don't measure the length of my penis by how fast I can go. I need more practice for sure, but cups would certainly help and i didn't push very hard after my spin.(to scared ;))
But there's no doubt that little Jap roller skate is fast, it weighs fook all and is set up properly too. The clue is in the title, Race MX5 :birdman:
Cheers Steve, I was hoping for a bit tuition at Croft, but missed out with timings and one thing or another. It's a great track and prefect for a beginner to learn on, it's a pity its noise restricted and not a bit nearer

pretty sure i had to let an mx5 past in the session i was out in too.
think that'll be because i'm slow most of the time.

Don't let him get to big headed, he overtook me on a cool down lap and iirc I couldn't catch him, but he couldn't get away either when up to speed. Fast little thing, fancy a go myself, looks really good fun to drive.
