Ladies & Gents, I'm looking for a definitive answer to this one.... 255 / 35 / 18 front, 255 / 35 / 18 rear.

I'm told it's not good and aquaplanning is even worse.

Please help out!!

TIA

Someone is talking rubbish:smokin:

Depends on geo and front camber you can manage to get but overall more front grip is good (dial out some of that BmW understeer that saves noddy drivers)

I'd say get as big in the back as you can for rear grip 265 or 275 and then see if you can get them on front. I doubt you'll manage 275 but I've got 265 front and rear ok, all camber ranges, no tram lining

 many thanks, shimmy!

i also thought of 245 - 265 like in e92 M3.... i'll experiment and report back with some data. ;)

The grip difference wil make gains when you are at the edge for sure on track but on road prob no benefit.

Biggest benefit of square set up is that on track you can swing the rears to front and vice versa and tyre wear will reduce as front and rear wear diffenrently.

Only if you're a big wet blouse :gayfight: ;) :hahaha:
As a spare set of wheels (mainly track) I run the stock E46 M3 9J rears X4 square set up with 265/35/18 DUNLOP DZ02 without any probs
I hope that's definitive enough for you Kris ;)

On a very wet track a square set-up pulls like a mofo, but on a dry track its far better.

Unless you drive a skoda and can only pass things on track in monsoon conditions then dont worry about the wet weather handling.

As Shim and others, I ran a square setup 265 35 18 on my car and have to say I felt far more in control and faster on square set-up than on conventiional set up, that said I ran e92 cup+ tyres on my CSL at the ring, and other than the springs being far too soft it hooked up pretty well.

My advice is just try them, everyone drives different and prefer different set-up.

Sorry John;)

I use 275 rears (10.5 x 18J) and they fit fine but remember the CSL has rolled rear arches as standard whereas the standard M3 does not. :smokin:

Just recently started running square, and wouldnt go back now, driven it at Croft, and then the Ring, Lawsy will confirm, felt really good with my geo and suspension. Azrael drove it at Donny and no complaints. Get it done mate, massive difference in my case.

 i currently have 9.5J and 275 on it and no rubbing but 10.5 might be an issue. I'm off to roll those arches. Can i do it with a hammer? :hahaha:

Awesome stuff... sooo... 9.5 J / 18 standard M3 alloys will be going on the front.

I'll try 255 / 35 / 18 all round at first, see how that feels like with data logger and then compare to 265 or maybe as much as 275.

Thank You!

I'm not sure data logger will work when the cars sitting in a lock up!;)

:hahaha: i quit the idea of selling engine. i don't get good enough offers and i get them 1 per week. I have a chance to buy back my CSL airbox as well!

i have S65 V8 + DCT gearbox... we will see. i have no plans but E46 GTR would be nice. ;)

You let the power slip through your hands Shim.;)

I like mine on all square std 19" set up. Front grips like a mofo. Really need to find some 18's but can't find wheels I like at the mo. I'm a fussy git.

Anyone have pics of some good, light 18's on CSL.

Try looking at the Volks CE30. Look like TD but stronger, stiffer and lighter. Just not sure about offsets

Overall and including the wider/heavier Cup tyres, my 18" BBS E88s are slightly lighter than the OEM 19's.

+1

I always wanted Dazza's set in gunmetal but ended up getting my BBS before he sold his Rays :bigcry:
