the thoughts of selling the csl have been creeping in recently. Usually the thought pops into my head and disappears again quickly. But I actually uttered the words "let's sell the car" the other day. I have backtracked again but I am more tempted now than I ever have been.
I wouldn't want to replace the csl as the reason for selling would be to release the cash for me to progress my business. But then I do think if I progress well, I could buy one again, but it wouldn't be the virgin car I have now. Ohh decisions decisions. Come on guys.. I need csl therapy to banish these thoughts from my head.:bigcry:
Actually it could be a 7 year itch thinking about it.

I know where you're coming from, I really do and I think we all have thoughts of selling, especially when you hear of some of the prices some are changing hands for right. And, when you think how far £25K - £30K to go in todays world as far as job securities and house deposits go, no one gets blamed for thinking along these lines.
But then, you take her out for a right good ripping session, particularly (read obviously) on a track and once you hear that airbox, thread her through some decent bends creating some organ dislodging 'G' Forces at some crazy speeds, you'll soon forget about everything, not only the £25K sitting in the car.
Or, watch the CSL Clip on Top Gear youtube...

Nooooo CSL girl.....
1. History is strewn with those who have regrets....even those who have moved onto "better" cars. Many return like Lawsy... Says a lot.
2.not a bad place to keep your ££ as more continue to have incidents.
3. Glendog said he'll ban anyone from here who sells, so you'll miss the home of witty banter
:)
Ok, that last one ain't strictly true.....;)

Thanks Baz! Makes me feel better :) The car is so part of the family that even talking (writing) about selling it feels... sort of out of order.
I love that video - off to watch it now me thinks. Maybe I did move to the wrong island...

@ yanto :hahaha::hahaha:
Yes, there are many csl selling regrets - have seen many over the years.
The money in the car is better than the interest from the bank. I think this is the main thing with me, wanting to keep it for later. My dad always regrets selling his E-type when petrol prices rose in the 60's and if he had it now...... Kids love it too so would love to "give" it to them one day.
You know, I would miss this place too much and have to change my username everywhere so 70% keeping at the mo :hahaha:

As Baz says, though I think the bit about his speeds and g-forces is a little fantasy !:birdman:, nothing else in the price range even comes close, and , as we have seen just recently , there are fewer and fewer of them on the road, which can only help prices. I have been doing my best lately to reduce the number of black CSL's out there by lending mine out to some really dodgy people to drive, but they failed ! Sell the children into slavery before you sell the CSL !!

This is not a wind up what i am going to say but really - have you considered a V10? or are the thoughts of selling - finance motivated? business isn't what it used to be and if i could buy another M6 i would so don't blame you... but i've seen one at auction selling for £14k. ;)

Simply put, get in your Cecil, take it for a BLAST :smt055 and you'll soon have yourself the definitive answer to your conundrum. As Ian said it's also far better then money in the bank and losts more fun besides.
Also (and here's a clincher I hope) your kids will miss it as much as you will ;)

I nearly sold mine once - but my dad persuaded me otherwise....from experience.
When he was my age, he had a beautiful E-type which he sold (he had 3 in total, but this was the last one). He regrets it to this day! Sure he can buy another one, but it wouldn't be "his E-type".
His advice was simple: "If you really don't need to sell it - then don't"
I'm glad I kept it......but you must be a realist. I only keep my car because I can afford to. I paid for it for in full when I bought it, so the "value" is kind of irrellevant now 5 years on. If it is a financial decision, then needs must, but just to make it even more difficult for you - my dad did sell his for financial reasons at the time, but with hindsight he could have managed and think that is the reason for the regret.
Just for the record - if I had sold my CSL, I would be absolutely gutted.

Don't worry cslgirl, these feelings are perfectly normal. I have them too and have found the best way is just to let the idea run on a bit to further questions like...what could possibly come like for like, give the same feelings/emotions etc., & hold it's value very well. The answer is that there is nothing else out there that comes close!
It's all well and good saying you can always buy another but I think I'd find it hard as I know mine, while it has seen a few trackdays, has been run carefully/respectfully with most miles driven like miss daisy at 39mpg, nearly got 40mpg on Monday on way back from Donny but needed a pee so had to pile on 5mph! It's paid off with strong car.
Plus you're one of the old guard from prodrive course...never surrender!

Do not pay any attention to those dummkopfs who suggested selling the children (aka D##c#nR). Everyone knows the bond between a women and her kinder is unbreakable. I have seen Sophie's Choice ... well I have heard of it anyway. The obvious answer is sell the husband. Use any of the following nouns and adjectives and I can assure you that you will get best price:- bi curious, man train, bend over backwards, willing to please and likes to wash up.
After that a nice glass of wine following a post induction roar down the road and the deal will have been done.
Pip
Ps If you are thinking of getting rid of her trash it so it is a write off and claim on the insurance then at least it will buoy values for fellow board members.

I am really laughing at your replies! thank you so much. i was starting to feel depressed about it all.
Matt, they ask to go out in it so yes, I must think of them too.
gingerninja, that is the same as my dad with his e-type ! and that is what puts me off as he wishes he still had his.
3wheels, very true lol. Funnily enough I found the emails re that day and my score sheet!
Bounce, i will defo regret it if i do.
Pip, I will put him in his uniform, take a pic and offer him on ebay (or had better offer him on here first - another carriage for the mantrain?). Wonder if he is reading this lol! if you are, not really my lovely.. love you pumpkin:smt055
Anyways, I did something today that I haven't done in about 20 years and borrowed some dosh from the parents and.... am picking up the keys to my own little shop tomorrow! This will hopefully take our minds off selling the csl for a while at least.

hmmm do you think there is a demand? I could add some :supz: the scale model will definitely be in there.
I make things with buttons www.iheartbuttons.co.uk (http://www.iheartbuttons.co.uk) (crap site but nearly finished my professional one) and am selling off my huge betty boop collection so a mixture. Get a lot of tourists where the shop is based.
The button bouquets are really popular for weddings so that side is mainly online and where most of the money is from so far.

I know for sure that Mrs P would love something like that - do you do much non-wedding stuff?
Chaps, honestly, it's for the Mrs. Really.

You will regret it if you sell cslgirl but if the business investment is really needed that sounds like something more important than a car sat in the garage most of the time. However, with depreciation very low or stopped on a good CSL it's very cheap fun motoring. Can't say that for many cars as useable as a CSL.
If you sell does that mean we don't meet in your dreams any longer?:bigcry::hahaha:
