Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone, I recently bought my first CSL. Here are the details:

Silver Grey
Xenons, A/C, PDC, Rain Sensor, CD/Business RDS
21k miles

It came from the factory with the delimited map, apparently one of six cars to do so. Has been looked after by Murketts from the beginning. Initially owned by DoctorD on bm3w/mtorque, the car was then purchased by a good friend of mine who has now moved onto a Challenge Stradale/BMW 1M. I have known about this car since it was purchased new, was also featured in the Evo buying guide a few years back.

On top of factory spec, it also has AP 6 pot fronts and Supersprint exhaust (centre). Furthermore, the exterior has been shielded with a protective film just about everywhere, there is not a single chip/scratch on the car. Inside, there is also protective film on every carbon fibre part.

I used to lurk on bm3w/mtorque when the CSL first came out, I have wanted the CSL for a long time but persisted with various widebodied air cooled 911's until I finally got round to buying a CSL a few weeks ago. Prior to that I used to own a Lancia Delta Integrale Evolution II in Lagos Blu, hence the forum ID. Pics of current & previous cars here:

In hindsight, I should have bought the CSL earlier. This car is everything I dreamt it would be and more. They say "never meet your heroes" and I was quite anxious the first time I drove the CSL, leaving it as long as possible just in case it did not live up to my expectations, but I was smitten.

I have been reading this forum for a while now, it really is a fantastic source of information with some rather amusing banter thrown in as well! I just want to reiterate my thanks to all those who have contributed so much to this forum as it allows folks like me to learn so much about the CSL.

Cheers

HFLagos (Taz)

ps - thanks also to Shimmy who has helped me offline with plenty of answers and advice.

Welcome Taz, well done on the purchase. You think you have a nice looking interior, if you get a chance, have a look at mine to see what the interior of a CSL should really look like mate !!;)

Thanks guys!

Ben - yes, I used to own a 964 Celebration, the colour is Viola Metallic. It was a lovely car in beautiful condition. I loved the widebody "spoiler-less" look of certain 911 models and the 964 was one of my favourites. It was replaced with the 993 C2S.

The Delta I had was a limited edition built towards the end of production, though the Final Edition cars sent to Japan were the last ever. It was an obsession to buy that car after I saw one as a kid in London, could not believe the stance and butch looks of the car. I was in my early 20's when I bought it and eventually sold when I moved to the US, but it was a dream fulfilled (and me bankrupted with the running costs!!)

kudos. you've had some rare birds there. I've only ever seen 1 celebration, in the violet on some 3.6 speedlines, looked mega.

It would be a Blu Lagos Edition? Great colour and interior

Thanks Ben. That Celebration must have indeed looked great!

And yes mine was the Blu Lagos edition, around 215 produced in total. The other main limited editions for the Evo II were the Giallo (Yellow with black alcantara), Dealers Collection (Burgundy with Tan) and Bianco Perlato (Pearl White with Blue).

The Final Edition was dark red with black and went to Japan but over time a few have found their way here.

apparently one of six cars to do so

Where did you get that info? Doubt it was that rare? Mine was done, I suspect all the press cars too?

Nathan - I got the information from the first owner (mentioned earlier), he was led to believe only about half a dozen cars came to the UK direct from the factory as delimited. I also spoke to Murketts about this recently, it was not a straightforward option on new CSL's.

In order for a brand new CSL to have this map, the customer had to provide evidence of having a racing licence. (there are plenty of references to this also elsewhere on the net)

Since then, other owners have had a delimited map put on their car from BMW direct, but I have read that they needed to also provide evidence of having a racing licence.

I don't know about press cars to be honest, you may well be right.

Good to see you too Trawler

Point taken re: Munich, will see what's possible. Meanwhile, Elms kindly gave me a white w/red leather 320d Convertible as a courtesy car whilst the subframe on my car is being done. Great mpg, but I can't wait to get the CSL back!

Loved the Lagos blue, I had a white 16v for nearly 6 years, hindsight etc etc. I just missed out getting one of the fast road Giallo ones from germany (can't remember what the tuning company was).

Think I've read of a few factory delimited csl's on here, didn't appreciate how rare they were, hasn't Neil M got one? - he seems to be another font of knowledge...

I was looking around at the end of last year trying to decide between returning to an Integrale or getting a csl... I know how good the Integrale is but the csl blew my mind...

...we've been together 17 days now  - can't wait to get home :)

The German company which did the fast yellow ones was called Holzer I think? I remember way back I used to be on the Evocorner forum and one of the regular contributors had one.

I loved my Lagos, have thought about getting a Final Edition, but may be best just to look back fondly now. Parts availability is a concern.

Great mpg that was its only redeeming feature when I was loaned a 320d convertible.
