hello guys,
been trying to sign up for days but had a trouble with the regristration page.
basically just put my exige up on the market after having a 30second blast in a CSL last weekend.
It has always been a car i have been interested in but we lotus folk get a sbit sticky in all the light weight this and corner weight that etc etc.
anyway im totally sold, the csl i was lucky enough to get a passenger ride in was all it took..
so my lotus is on the market and im in no hurry to seek out a preferably SG sub 30k miles CSL...
the noise keeps me up at night....
anyway thought id say bonjour

Welcome to the fold and best of luck with Cecil hunting
One thing I'd say from personal experience and IMHO is there's no point at all getting "hung up" about the sub 30K mileage CSL, unless you're after a "Garage Queen" :gayfight: and willing to pay the £30K + price tag for the pleasure. The best CSLs are the ones in regular use and most of these are now well over 40 K miles :smokin: BMW Extended Warranty is more beneficial to New CSL owner then the low mileage

Welcome chaps. Funny how a small ride in a CSL makes you go all silly and want one.
I keep thinking about a 7GT3 or RS and probably will one day. But in the real World and current economic climate I feel the CSL does a good 90% of the job but stays nicely under the radar attention wise. You can choose exactly when and where to strategically unleash the noise.;)

also can you buy a warranty for any csl? i dont understand how the warranty works
Bounce

you can renew a lapsed warranty on this csl as it has a full service history. It will cost you a little more in the first year to renew, i think its around £900 fully comp, but well worth it as most on here will agree.;)

what id like to do is go for a ride in a csl with a spotless smg, so i know how its supposed to feel when i go and test drive them.
i suppose if i dont do this i may get a lumpy box and not realise it..?
does anyone live local to wilmslow/macclesfield/stockport etc

slightly over what it is supposed to be done at which as you know is 1200

Found this on another M3 forum.I'm unsure as to 'how' serious BMW took to cars without the 1200 mile service done but my CSL didn't have it until 2000 miles. When I bought the car from a main dealer, I got a letter from the BMW UK saying that they would maintain the full manufacturers warranty and subsequently the extended warranty. The DP was using the car from day 1 and 'forgot' to hand it in for the service which I find a bit bizarre but there you go.
I have had no problems with any warranty work regarding my car in the 25K miles and nearly 4 years I have owned it. Regarding the Engine, I've had the Vanos unit replaced once but feel that this is nothing to do with the lack of 1200 mile Warranty.
Just my experience, that's all. I know come selling time, it might put a few people off but...am I thinking of selling anytime soon? Am I ****? http://static.forums.m3cutters.co.uk/images/smilies/rofl1.gif

No, not a problem, so long as it was a proper "Running-in check" Service that was done @ 1700 miles by BMW Main Dealer, it's perfectly OK and acceptable by BMW . I think much over 2000 miles and BMW might start " Uhmming & Arring ". Probably best to double check with BMW (GB) HQ in Bracknell.
There are quite a few CSLs with their "Running-in" Service done after the recommended 1200 miles aprox. ;), mine included :smokin: @ 1889 miles yet BMW has honoured every Warranty claim on mine, since NEW  including a recent replacement Diff and fuel pump  few months ago.

Exactly the same as me, mine was done at 2100 miles. People get really hung up about it, but I've never had ANY problems and I've had the VANOS done, two diffs, a clutch, a flywheel and gearbox work done, all under warranty and they've never flinched.
Ask about a letter from BMW (UK) stating that the late running in service won't affect warranty claims. My car was also the DP's car, Broadoak Ashford, :supz:
