Im involved in the lifting of the UK Tsunami Memorial stone at the Natural History Museum this Sunday. Just a big lump of granite weighing 130 tonnes. My jacks will be lifting it from the French Haulier bringing it in, and then Ainscough, will do final lift with a 500t telecrane.
We have a full closure of Queensgate up the West side of the museum if anyone knows the area, its closed fom midnight tonight from Museum Lane down to the main A4.
Pop down Sunday if anyone bored !:hahaha:

All looks v. impressive.... This may be a stupid question, but why can't they lift it off the lorry with the big crane ?

All looks v. impressive.... This may be a stupid question, but why can't they lift it off the lorry with the big crane ?The crane in the photo is only a 75t capacity, the final lifting into place in the garden was done today using a 500te capacity crane. Setting up heavy cranes on roads in the City is problematic due to the myriad of under ground services etc., and even if the crane set up on the road, it would have to be much bigger than a 500te one to get the stone in place.

Not the cheapest place to get a brew round there either. I work here, but certainly can't afford to live here.

The ones you've sent are fantastic - thanks very much. I've shown a few of my colleagues, they're impressed.

The other half commutes in an Audi A1, although she does keep mentioning how much she likes the 3 series. Not sure our budget will stretch to a CSL though :bigcry:
