View Full Version : Emissions light staying on
Afternoon all
My emissions light has been coming on for the past few weeks and is now staying on all the time, so i have to put it into the stealers next week for a diagnostic check.
I have done a quick search on here but that shows up all sorts of issues from new vanos to coils :bigcry:
As far as i am aware its the lambda/oxygen sensors or the cats perhaps?
I would be grateful for some input from anyone who knows what else it could be, before i get arse raped by BM.
Also does anyone know of a good specialist surrey way that might be able to help?
many thanks

They normally come on when you have a/m cats and SS exhaust.
Best to just ignore it!;)

On my old Csl with race cats the light never came on once, but it has for my mate( the new owner)
Is it maybe due to being driven daily?
Mine was a weekend track toy, whereas my mate uses his daily?
It's strange how some do some don't.

Hi,
The issue is going to be a right f*****g pain.
As from 1st Jan 2012 any engine/ warning lights
on in the dash will be a fail.
So I am guessing Bulb out ? or some type of
breaker to the bulb live, so it can switched
off ?
Regards,
The Gorilla.

its been ok for 4 years, daily driven, track days all of it really.
so what we are saying here is that it has not effect on the running of the engine and is only really there to help save the planet?

Mine went into ,Murketts Yesterday for an early service and Ive just had a light coming on/off last few days.
Turned out to be a repeat fault code for the rear Lambda sensor so its being changed under warranty.
Also found out I'm getting a new wheel bearing, power steering pipes, Ball joint, two new rear springs and a new Diff.

Very common fault.
It'll be bank 2 rear lambda (I've seen about 4 CSLs with this same, all the same) - it's an emission thing, won't affect the running of the engine.
There are 4 lambdas in our car - 2 pre cat and 2 post cats (the pre-cats are an absolute pain the arse to change).
Best prices I've see are from e-bay - go search on there, plenty of cheap aftermarkets that work just fine without issues.
If it's the pre-cat, then I'd stick with the more reputable brands, as those do affect engine running.

Update - yes it was indeed the oxy sensor - all replaced and an SMG hydraulic pump and relay replaced for good measure too (the gear cog light came on) - god bless zero excess extended warranty :)
Hello,
I also had this warning light for a moment yesterday:
http://tapatalk.com/mu/60f72fb9-6532-6740.jpg
(not my car in the pictures :) )
It has gone after some time.
From what I have read here, there is no need to worry then. Correct?
Thanks for any opinion.

Alex

Alex, mine went into Elms on Sat and it was the Airbox sensor, cost of sensor is £15 for you to fit or a hours labour at your dealer.
Obviously it could be a number of things, get it plugged in to be on the safe side.
Billy
Thank you Billy.
I called the dealer and was told that it was not worth checking it as the light went off again...

Alex
