Guys,

A friend of mine at work is looking into buying an M6, and just wanted any advice if any of you have owned one.

Obviously the economy of these things are absolutely pants, 8mpg or something stupid. But is there anything to look at before buying?

Regards
Thomas

Never owned one but from what I have read a warranty sounds imperative. If anything goes wrong it will be expensive.

Hi Thomas. I had an M6 but i kept it a secret...... :hahaha:

Seriously though - if your friend is looking for a fast, refined and comfortable long distance GT car with a fantastic engine and exhaust note - an M6 is a clear winner.

Too heavy for a race track but it is not what the car was intended to be great at. On a race track you need light cars if you want to avoid high bills in consumables.

Despite its size - it handles very well. I'm an average driver in terms of skill but i always had a lot of confidence in the car. Fast sweeping bends are fun also the car is rock solid in high speeds.

Speed - I had it @ just over 190mph and you could feel it was accelerating.

It's heavy on fuel but if you don't use the car often - it probably won't make much difference but the small 73 litre fuel tank size is annoying.... Low petrol indication lits up at 1/4 tank.... making you realise you need to plan your journeys by locaions of petrol stations!! :hahaha:

Warranty - i wouldn't buy an M6 without it. A lot of things can go wrong but generally speaking - m power cars are bullet proof.
Early cars had problem with smg hydrolic pump but from what i know - this was such an issue that withing couple of years, the pump would have failed... but a replacement one fixes the problem properly. Vanos - see above... it will fail and replacement sorts it out.

I posted these vids before but hey... for once it will be on topic. :hahaha: enjoy!
