So if it was meant to be 422 to UK not sure why there are some "missing" in the DVLA records.. maybe they went to other RHD markets as as the take up wasn't as high as expected?

Believe a good number were exported to RHD markets even brand new. Mine was brought over from the UK to HK in early 2004 by the first owner and was never registered in the UK. I'm the second owner of the car with 10K miles - you don't get that much road in HK to drive around. Now I can claim that I'm a proud owner of one of 422 :supz:
