Pics from my latest Ring trip

Hi all,

Here's a few pics from my latest Ring visit. Had a great weekend and met some top blokes from the Ford RS Focus owners club who had brought 14 cars over - all of them staying at the 'Ringhaus' where we were. I took 8 of them out in my CSL and they all loved it - i've even converted a few due to CSL induction roar alone! :-D I also had a ride in a Focus driven by a madman which was 'interesting'...! :eek:

The BMW Driver Training School also pitched up with over £1 million worth of V8 E92 M3 - 22 in total! There were also a few Nissan GT-Rs testing there, an RCN race, a few CSLs, as well as the usual stuff and Sabine in the M5 'Ring Taxi'.

I did have one strange occurence of having the DSC/Gearbox/Tyre Press/Cautions illuminate on driving through Northern France and took the sensible approach of getting it checked at a very helpful BMW dealership in Dunkirk. The head mechanic diagnosed and reset the glitch free of charge, putting it down to the car having been on the ferry...! I bunged him 20 Euros for a couple of beers :beer:

Oh, and the Focus lads said to give 'Kev H' some stick for selling out on them and getting a CSL saying he'll never track it but endlessly polish it instead, lol! :wink:

the orange car is a french lad, but not a Csl, copy well done, but still a fast car, 506hp with a compressor under the boot.... :smokin:

I can't stand anymore, I need to go back a weekend there this year... :drool:

I saw the orange one recently at DM performance shop near Paris...an incredible CSL full race setting with a huge compressor...
A killing détails...in the front, you can see behind rims some carbon ceramic brake...ouch!

I did want to have a little chat about our respective rides....as we didnt get chance as i had to go to the airport..

HA so thats what you really thought :bigcry:

I suppose i do push my car quite hard? But I do know that my AP's :smokin: :drool: will slow me down in time, you'd have had a better idea of their capabilities on a regular trackday, they just work better the harder you go.. every lap all day long

I see you've joined the CSL forum! I've been snooping around the RS Owners Club - i think your Madman moniker is quite accurate...!

It would have been good to have had a chat about the cars afterwards as i was genuinely impressed by the Focus after my lap with you :notworthy: Has Womble bought a CSL yet?! I have a couple of small vids of my lap with you too if you want them sending on.

Oh, i may be going out there in 2 weekends time if you're up for it! :beer:

well here is my appraisal of your car......

all the rs boys were very impressed with your car.. womble went to see one on his way home :drool: ....

when we went out in yours first, i was surprised how easy it felt, yet you were driving quickly, i know you could have pushed harder your car def has more left in reserve then mine...to be honest i felt a little embarrassed, i knew you would find mine a very different experience entirely...

and then we went out in mine.....


bumpy noisy slidey with too much tyre squeal!

i realise i do need to raise my ride height on my coilovers to let my sus work a bit better.... the ring highlighted that for me!

oh and a bit more power would be nice too :-D :-D :-D



yeah i'd love to see any footage you may have? I'll pm you my info if you dont mind?

when do you think you will be going back? i've had a lot of hols already... but I know I won't be able to wait till next sept to go back....
