I was wondering if anyone has a set of Continental Sport Contacts on their car? I bet it's not as good as the cups.

I am debating whether to fit a new set of cups, or pilot super sports on mine. The cost the same apparently. But the Conti's are way cheaper, so I am seriously thinking about it.

Any thoughts?

If you only drive your CSL on road then i'm sure Continental would be fine.

Its rare that you hear particularly good reports about them, however...

I would fit Michelin Pilot Super Sports personally.

I've had Conti's, Michelin Pilot Sport 2's and now Super Sports on my M3/CSL and they are all very different. To summarise...

1. Conti's - very average, not ditch-finders but not very grippy either
2. PS2's - at least 10 x better than Conti's esp in the wet
3. Super Sports - by a long way the best tyre I've ever driven. Amazing grip in wet and dry, really do inspire confidence.

I'm gonna have to buy some PSS as soon as Costco do a deal:thumbs:

Thanks. Super Sports it is.

I hope the last longer than the cups too.

Now to look for a set of 18 in wheels and bridgestone semis for the track :)

I got a full set cheaper than Costco could have done them with 20% off. If your just waiting for that Shimmy and you want them sooner then I'll pm you my contact. ;)

They should last alot longer:

Cups have a wear rate of 80 and 5mm tread - 80x5 = 400
Super Sports have a wear rate of 300 and 8mm tread - 300x8 = 2400

2400/400 = 6

So by funtime maths they should last approx. 6 times longer :hahaha:

Of course those calculations are just the man maths for justification and are not an exact science :clown:

I believe the Bridgestones are called potenza re55's.

Not sure about the size, it was on an e92 M3 with 18 in wheels.

About a third of the price of cups :)
