Hi guys,

my Z3MC BMW warranty lapsed some time ago so was interested to know what the cost of these are now for the CSL?

Seems they come in different options of excess these days?

Cheers
Ian

You will find the lapsed warranty prices are a couple of hundred quid more than the prices shown above.;)

correct its about £1245 to start new one with zero excess and cheaper the next year best to do instalments to stop future price rises.;)

Thanks for that guys, just what I was looking for. Are BM expecting things to go drastically wrong after 60k?!

Monkeycsl - how does instalments protect against future rises? Do they charge interest to pay monthly?

Seems to be the best way to start policy is to pay the large sum for the year and then on renewal which will be roughly £200 cheaper is to then start paying in monthly instalments this appears to stop increases being applied on forthcoming renewals.hopefully stopping bmw from:butthead:

Sorry to hijack this thread was going to start a new one, but guess there is loads of them about warranty!:bigcry:

Hows does everyone find the Warranty with cars that are Modified?

I rang BMW UK the other day asking about warranty as the csl I have brought has Suspension upgrade, APS and a half cage. They said, obviously, that they wouldn't cover the aftermarket stuff, my main concern was if they would look at the car and invalidate the warranty with any mods, but the guy did say they would use a common sense approach and if the aftermarket parts did cimtribute to the oem parts failing then they wouldn't cover.

Has anyone got warranty on there modded CSL's, I know Dunc had a new motor from them and his is modded.

Just want piece of mind against the motor or gearbox letting go.

Cheers

Ando

The BMW warranty document states (on page 17)

The terms and conditions of the warranty listed below must be adhered to, failure to do so will result in the rejection of a claim or the termination of you BMW insured warranty. This does not affect your statutory rights.

condition 6 states

The BMW Insured warranty will not cover an insured vehicle that has been subject to alterations or has in any way been modified from BMW's approved specification.

The policy is quite clear - no mods.

The Audi extended warranty, also operated by Mondial, states:

This insurance does not cover any failure or damage caused by, arising from or in connection with the following:

Clause 6- Vehicles modified in any way from the original manufacturer's specification.

There is a subtle difference in the wording, IMO. Common sense dictates only the affected parts should be excluded, but this is an insurance policy (and not with BMW) and we all know they will duck and dive if they can.
