Dear CSL fans, dear BMW fans

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5293/5496024879_c268266c60_o.jpg

With profound regret, I bring you news that Andy Pressland passed away yesterday. Andy was 39.

As many of you will know from this thread http://www.cslregister.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5759&highlight=andy+pressland Andy had been suffering from cancer for a while. He put up a valiant fight, but he finally succumbed to this terrible illness.

To the last day he remained cheerful. Shimmy & DuncanR were with him last Saturday and observed how positive he remained.

Andy was an incredibly kind and considerate person. His dedication and enthusiasm were truly awesome – his passion for cars involved his ownership of an E30 M3 and a Mercedes 280S – such great taste.

In the 8 years I have known him, I got to know him reasonably well and say with a heavy heart that we have lost a true gentleman. I know my feelings are echoed by BMW fans near and far. Everyone at Murketts is touched by this immense loss. So many have selflessly provided support for Andy. In particular his colleagues at Murketts, both present and past, have been solid anchors for Andy throughout this difficult phase. Contact details for 2 of them, if you wish to contact them, are as follows:

Adrian.gibbins@murkett.bmw-net.co.uk

The cremation service will take place at 1:30 pm on Tuesday March 22 in the West chapel at the
Cambridge City Crematorium. Family flowers only, and any donations to the Arthur Rank Car Home where he spent a fortnight prior to his death.

I will choose to remember him laughing as i walk in to the Service Reception at Murketts with a large 'bill' in his hand! :smokin:

Andy has been one of my best friends for well over a decade, so I've found these past few months very difficult - I wanted to visit him, but struggled with the thought of seeing him in these final days.

Those of you who know me will be aware that Andy was instrumental in setting up the support infrastructure for CSL's at Murketts. Andy was tireless in logging PUMA requests with BMW and embraced all the upgrades and improvements we made to the CSL over the years.

But more than this Andy was a 'true' gentleman and a passionate enthusiast - everyone who met him always came away with good things to say about him and I was proud to call him a friend.

His last text to me said simply, "Thank you Steve, good to hear from you. Miss our chats, hope to catch up soon. Take care Andy."

Rest in peace Andy.

/Steve

This is incredibly sad news :(

I only met Andy once. In the very early days of the CSL and the first appearance of an AP Racing brake kit it was Andy who bent over backwards to allow a BMW dealership to get those kits fitted for many of us.

My heart goes out to his family and friends.

It makes you question "life's" motives when such people are taken before their time.

Depely saddened, but I'm glad his suffering is over, as mentioned my s.mac & what I've heard subsequently it is a very difficult way for someone to go and for those around them.

I hope he is in a much better place now.
