Cheers folks. Yeah sorry, they are a bit on the large size those pics, but was trying to learn how Photoshop worked at 1am. You wouldn't believe that I actually work in IT!
Gonna go to town on the car soon with the Autoglym, Autosol, etc. and try and get it shining. Mind you, that shine won't last long as soon as I take it out around the country lanes again :banghead:

Good to see you're out enjoying it!
Found this pic of your car over on http://www.bmw-driver.net/forum/

Whop Whop on here was friendly with Jason Kelly. I presume that's him driving? There's also a clip of it at Mondello on you tube.
I've seen the clip of it on youtube, plenty of sideways action in the pissing rain at Mondello. I think whopwhop is the driver filming it in his car.

I've been away with work for a few weeks, so planning to take it out on Saturday morning around Wicklow for a blast. Have filled it up with Maxol E5, so will see if I notice any difference over the previous tank of Esso. Supposedly it's the only 99-octane stuff around?
Yeah Niall, that's Jason driving. There's a clip on YouTube somewhere of an E92 M3 trying to keep up with Whopwhop and him while they mix it with the 'Ring taxis
The poor old car must be wondering what the hell's going on these days with my lack of driving skills. But hey, as long as I'm having fun :)

Great car, driven like it was supposed to be but very well maintained.
If you happen to bring it back to the ring at any point you will probably find most of the other cars diving out of your way for safety sake :clown::clown:
and as fir the Limerick registration... i hope you have purchased a pair of ROM runners and a nice shiney shell suit :hahaha:

Hey Whop, yeah seems to be a good one as Jason said it was. Loving it so far, although still waiting for a really dry day so I can give it a proper drive. Was down Blessington way on Saturday but all I found was rain and fog
And to think I legged it back into Dublin so I wouldn't miss any of the rugby :smt017:smt017:smt017

Not a new thread (sorry Shimmy ;)), but resurrecting my one now that I've had the CSL for a year, and still love it. This is a particularly good shot of everyone ignoring it:

Nearly two and a half years into CSL ownership now and still love it as much as the first day, possibly more actually
Took it in for its annual oil change today (got 1800miles out of the last lot!), and treated it to some new kickplates and a rear diffuser, as the old one had a slight crack in it. Sorry, not used to taking pics in the sunshine :hahaha::

When you buy the kick plates, does it come as the whole thing or just the "CSL" alloy part and how much, as the same one on mine could do with replacing to make it perfect (it has a couple of water marks under the lacquer which annoys the OCD in me LOL.

It's the black surround too Mike, see the old ones below. They cost me £220 for the pair delivered to Ireland

I would remove the kick plates if you use your car in winter.

73CSL
15-05-2013, 05:40 PM
im tempted to put supersports on my other set of wheels so will be interested to hear your opinions of them :) .. unfortunatley , there is always the chance of getting caught in rain when up in the hills , so not quite sure I fancy running cups
LeinsCSL
15-05-2013, 07:03 PM
That's exactly the reason why I put them on, as have gone out many a time early in the morning with the sun out, then 30 minutes later it's been sheeting it down up in the hills. I've heard great things about the SuperSports, so am quite excited to see what they're like when I get a few more miles under the belt

17-08-2014, 06:04 PM
Well it's a lot longer than 2 months of CSL ownership now, I'm up to 3.5 years. Haven't driven it much since getting back from the Munich trip last year due to a winter hibernation (me, not the car ;)), and then messing around with my E30 for a while
Took it out for a bit of a blast across the hills this morning with other member DUBU, and those occasional thoughts about selling it for something older and/or more Porsche-like have just about been banished again I think!

Well it's more like 4 years and 2 months of ownership now, and still love the Cesil, probably more now than when I first got it. The other two old motors are still lurking about too
The latest addition is the Mini GP. Everyone should get one of these to go with their CSL - Mad little cars! Currently in getting detailed and next up is a decent service, new clutch, summer wheels & tyres, etc.

Well after almost 5 years, the longest I've owned a car, I agreed to sell my Cesil today. Didn't even advertise it, just heard of someone looking for one. Car will be staying in Ireland, and hopefully the new owner will be on here presently
My Alpina is also gone recently too, and the E34 M5 next, as just not been getting enough use out of them all. Keeping the Mini GP1, and hoping to pick up a B5 RS4 at some stage soon to go with it, as always wanted one
Anyway lads (& CSLGirl), been great being on here. It's a super forum and a great community, the highlight for me definitely being the Munich trip (where did the rest of that Cointreau go? :hahaha:). Will continue to check in to see what's happening, and if anyone's over this side of the water make sure to give us a shout

I'm starting into a week-long boozefest to fend off the pain! :bigcry: RS4 is just one of those cars that I've spent the last 15 years wanting, so need to give it a go and see. Plan is to have it for the odd weekend or foreign road-trip, and the Mini for sh*ts & giggles, but will see how it all pans out. I'd say I'll be back in something else old school down the line too

25-10-2015, 09:02 AM
Jesus Jeff, didn't see that one coming. Is it staying South or coming North?
I've had a few people ask about CSL's recently, if I knew of any for sale but the ones (Including yours) I know of are most definitely not for sale. I've done very little miles in mine the last 3 years also but since buying a Diesel 5 series to replace the E90 M3 this summer, I have a feeling I may be digging it out more often for giggles.
Good luck and that Cointreau? Went behind the bar, the bar staff weren't digging us having a bottle in the bar area, f**kers! Was good though, cheers lad.

Cheers Matt, I blame you for giving me the idea ;) Ah no, as I think you found yourself lack of use is a terrible thing, and sets the mind wondering! Time to move them on and start afresh. Need to get a Labrador for the incoming Audi now too :hahaha:
As for Bart, last I heard he's looking for a CSL now too so he can go on the beer in Munich with you all at the 15th anniversary. Please no-one sell him a car :hahaha:
Mike R
26-10-2015, 10:45 AM
I hope you won't be disappointed in the RS4 (especially after the CSL), as it is a completely different car. Like you, I always thought they were the dog's danglies until I drove one. Bearing in mind this was a fully prepped MTM version as well (520bhp, KWs, APs all round), I guess that I was expecting quite a lot. However, I found it an understeering barge and after just one lap of the 'ring, I couldn't wait to give it back to the owner.
Don't get me wrong, it was fast, but the handling was WAY down the scale of things it did well.....
LeinsCSL
26-10-2015, 11:30 AM
Thanks Mike, I've had Audis before, and I'm not buying one as a direct replacement for the CSL
As brilliant a car as the E46 is, for one reason or another it's pretty much become surplus to requirements for me - I don't track it, I don't use it for the fast-road weekend stuff anymore (Mini GP for that), and I've no plans for any road trips with it - which is where the B5 is planned to be used
Something Pork-flavoured is on the cards at some stage too, but not just yet
