We're changing a few parts this weekend on my Csl and on the E46 of my friend, he pics up my good used SS exhaut and I'm going on a New SS oversize header + cats + new X pipe with resonator. So just after we are going back for remap adjusments + dyno behind that
where to get a decent remap, we've looked around France, but with all the good and bad feedbacks we have and seen on Bmw forums in my country we are not too confident to get a try at french dealers and the 2 well knowed decent guy's making remaps don't have any dyno's. So we're looking forward to crossi the channel and get a decent remap + dyno on my Csl and the M3 E46 in UK
so, any good address?
we have in mind
- thorney motorsport
- simpson motorsport
so, advices are welcomed
thank for help

Thorney look's easy access from my location and takes less time I would say even with a few more miles to drive, pop thru channel tunnel + a few hours drive and done, Simpsons look's to be around Bristol, nasty tripp by car, need to take the ferry and spend 2x8 hours in/out on the ferry + to drive there. Whent to Wales last year to have a few day's off with my wife around Tenby thru Bristol/swansea and tripp was really a nightmare it was pouring down buckets of water for 5 days with csl on cup's that was nasty.... :smt012
I'm migh take option thorney trip and roads looks better :smt112

Initially I had a full Stage 2 remap: Miltek 100 cell cats, plus Miltek full exhaust system and ITG filter - 380bhp. Car felt a lot keener mid-range but there was an irritating rattle from the exhaust tunnel and a drone at times. My insurer wasn't happy either, so...
I have now reverted to a Stage 1 tune: Standard CSL 200 cell cats, plus Miltek system and ITG filter - 370bhp. Car feels almost identical to the Stage 2 tune but doesn't rattle at all or drone as much. Oh, and my insurer is placated once more!
I'm happy with the Stage 1 tune and de-limit. It was also nice to see that it is only 10bhp down (on that day's rolling road conditions) on the Stage 2 and it is marginally better on fuel economy with the standard 200 cell cats back in place. :-D

i think all of these mods have very little real affect on the car, and i have some of them.
If you have gone for the exhaust mods simpsons (ESS) or thorney (superchips) will be able to make the most of the upgrades although dont expect too much overall.....

actually I have SS header, SS cat 100cc, X pipe and Einsenmann stage II rearbox with light remap and delimit
managed a good deal for a full SS exhaust with race header and race cat.
I'm not looking forward for Extra Hp and torque, I just need an re ajustement or a reset and a good remap matching with mods, a fresh check up with good sparkpluggs, filter and whatever comes around. But something and done by someone serious, not a jackass.
will probably make a jump at thorney in october, will give him a ring to get an appointment
for reasons of sound and looks I can understand why people want to play around with exhaust parts on the csl. But in terms of outright power i think you are pretty much wasting your time on what is already a well-mapped engine from factory. For the money vs. Actual improvements I really wouldn't bother. And you could even lose power and torque by messing around with the headers and trying to match with recalibrated software.
good luck with whatever you go for and hope it feels good when done - but personally I would not start messing around with such a good factory setup.

I understand your point of view, Csl stock is already a extremly good weapon on track, but... I'm Tickeld by my few friend around me owning for exemple E46 with ESS TS, ASA compressors or M5 60 and GT3 RS4 or RS6.... I had the opportunity to get a Header oversize with 100cell cat oversize for stock price without VAT and sell back my stuff near new for rather the same price, I just have to drop a few extra £ to have the stuff. The remap I had is just a basic ship tuning done by a local dealer, not a M3 specialist, and he could not even get my car on his 2 wheeler dyno because is doesn't know how to pass around the DSC/ECU system.
So this time, I just want things to be done perfectly, with the results and done clearly propally with all what come's with it. nothing more, whatever the power is, just want a perfect ajustement. :smokin:

I guy's, got the full SS installed on my Csl, took me one and half day to to take out and back again the all exhaust, the header was the longest, the 12mm nuts are not very easy access (must be even whorse on a RHD) but managed to get it done on my owne, with correct tool, it's not sutch a nightmare.
Got a few miles done driving it easy to head the all pipes gently and I felt a little difference on low rpm range, rpm are climming a little faster than previous and it looks like torque has done up a little, between 2000/5000rpm, I started rolling i to get to 4th at 1200rpm in sport mode, and went flatout on right foot on a very light and long staight hill climb and saw the difference.
I did not go over 5000/6000 yet, will go in it progressivly, with give a little more time to the car with exhaust to heat up propally, I've only driven around 6or 7 miles till now.
looks good to me...

Ok mark, I will, but one condition to it, each time you change something on your Csl, please make a video with comments (like the steering wheel) I'd really like to see and Header change in/out with your scottish accent... would be great
I'd love it....

I'm booked@thorney the a "light remap, dyno and check up" for my Csl the 15th of this month going for a quick "splash and dash" on a 24 hours run in and out of UK, I'm short on time between my work 13/14 and 17 + track day in Dijon the 10/11/12 and the ring the 18/19/20th so I'm going thru eurotunnel early 15th(5am) to be back eurotunnel (7pm) and home late 15th
Anyone around Milton keynes that day to meet up and have a eventual snack of lunch at noon..? you're invited...

Back from thorney.... I'm happy and really good work done by john and his TMS team.
A few month ago, my car was on 348hp and 355hp on dyno's with only a Eisenmann rear box, This morning Csl past again "stock ECU" with some extra bits as: SS header, 100cc cat and SS xpipe to pull out 372hp on the 3rd dyno test, after that, whent for an ITG filter and ECU remap and we had a little problem, parametres were not correct due to air intake between the head cylinder and header flange on one cyl only.., air was sucked when cold but not when header was very hot(seelded when hot) so after a check up and after 22 run on dyno, car came out with 384.6hp....
went away happy, and performances are really there, car is different, it's really a kickass....
