View Full Version : Never Gonna See My CSL Again

Bealo
14-02-2011, 06:41 AM
I'm currently working in Malaysia and have only been in the UK for 2 weeks since the start of Sept 2010

With that in mind i have made the decision to sell my CSL.

It is in the safe hands of the master project leader himself Shimmy who collected the car from Norfolk yesterday. I'm sure soon enough he will start to advertise not only the car but the spares aswell

I have had 4+ years with the car and can honestly say it has been faultless from day 1 apart from a failed alternator. BMW warranty was a pleasure to deal with and all in all i will greatly miss the car.

Onwards and upwards and all that shit and i'm am having fun thinking about when and what i will replace it with.

Holy Smoke Bealo, I knew you were getting itchy and quite fancying a bit of Pork but didn't think it would be in these circumstances.

I thought I was hard-done-by working 5 weeks on, 5 off but you seem to getting it quite tight at the moment as far as work is concerned, all going well though aye? I'll remember you the next time herself gives out to me for doing additional work during my leave.

Good luck in the hunt mate, hope the like other former CSL owners, you'll stick around. And never know, you 'might' be back.

It's not all been hard work lol i've had some time off in Thailand where i have a small pad

Who know's what the future bring and like you say i might be back once i've sampled a few other cars.

I've got a short list to test drive and going to have fun sampling them all

I will defo be staying around on the Forum and keeping in touch with the usual suspects....

Sorry to hear that Bealo, but it makes sense to sell if you aren't using the csl.

Look forward to seeing what you get next and as said, you never know, you may be back into the CSL fold again some time.

That's a tough decision you've made there Stu :bigcry: but since you're not using her that much it's probably best to let someone else get the CSL fix  so long as it's not Shimmy peeling off the wrap, puting his plates on along with all his Track bits and abusing your SG to keep the mileage down on his own SG ;) :hahaha:

I have to say, the Milltek Exhaust is much better than I thought, and better then the one I heard before. It is a good sound, not too loud and no drone at all.

A very good option for someone who wants a low rasp option:thumbs:

KWClubsport are a bit harsh but I have no idea what settings they are on. I'll have to take a look (can you Kw guys let me know how to adjust and what is preferred road settings)

Diff don't feel like 4.10 at all :hahaha:, I'm not making same mistake again so I am gonna measure speed, gear, rPm just to make sure :smokin:

Overall once you get rid of the sweet wrappers, it is a car that feels solid and MUCH younger than the miles suggest (65302)

I thought stu was on V3's?

Is the wrap coming off then, as I felt it seriously limited my market when selling

Soften them fully off if you so desire.

adjust at top, and bottom,

rears need a small pin to rotate the adjuster on bottom,

fronts is a v small allen key up inside the strut at bottom.

tops are self explanatory

The paperwork is clubsports for sure but not sure how to tell on the car

Wrap will be off yes but meanwhile it's good protection for the car

Stu has KW V3s + top mounts Shim.

Have a look at the Clubsport adjustment guide in the technical section. The adjustments are exactly the same - just over a slightly smaller range iirc.

Just bear in mind the service costs Stu,

We serviced a v12 vantage, it required engine/subframe drop to change oil filter.

We got quotes to see how much it would be and we were quoted £1050+vat just for an engine oil and filter change:smt044

If this is not a problem go for it, but I would dread to think what a full service would be.

Just some food for thought.

GTR running costs can be quite high too, service every 6k or 6months, it soon comes round and if in the network is not cheap, tyres dont last long if hooning and come in at near 2k for the dunlops, only available through dealers too.

I would seriously think down the pork route if I was in your shoes, they seem to have sensible service costs too.

AlexGTT
17-02-2011, 10:48 PM
I'm with Lawsy on this one. GT3 or RS is the natural progression Stu and very reasonable to service compared to AM Vantage V12 or Lambo. Mind you, the mileage you do at the mo it might not worry you.

Nice decision to make though bud.:smokin:

I must admit if I was Stu and could be bothered to prize myself of the ladyboys, I'd probably go for an AM DBS - the depreciation I would not like, and I would not track it, but a nice comfortable bird magnet (I have been watching Inbetweeners on the plane today by the way) and a great car. Less obvious than and RS or Lambo so can be used day to day without feeling like a knob.

thanks for the advise guys, really not sure what i will do and tbh right now im that bloody busy i don't know when i would be back in the UK to use it.

But whatever i get it will be used and will go on track also like the 911 turbo with PDK as i really don't want to go back to a manual car.

That is odd, as Stu asked me to get a price to upgrade from V3's to clubsports, and was waiting for the new twisty adjuster type CS to launch ...

But then he could of been on CS all along without knowing :smt102

It's the same mate - the damper assembly must be common between the V3 & Clubsport.

I would imagine the springs (stiffer) and top mounts are the only difference between the two kits.
