hi all
after abit of price advice, what can I expect to return from my csl ? clicked 28k yesterday, having inspection II today, fresh cups, 3 previous owners, 10 months warrenty mot tax etc, the usual spec, very good condition. 29/29.5 ?!

Is it completely standard - APs, top mounts? I think that is a fair price (£29.5k) for the miles and with the service schedule up to date but would wait until the spring for best price. The sub 30,000 mile examples are few and far between.

Advertised typically last 6 months for £29-32k, higher ones being car dealers cars.
I think biggest demand currently for CSL is sub z30k milers with good history and fully loaded and BMW warranty, in which case I'd try to secure £30k

Not that it's relevant Kev, but I can confirm the 50k+market is currently dead!!!

There never is gonna be a queue at your door with CSLs as always limited numbers being looked for.
You will need to make sure its advertised in the right spots. I know someone that i think may be interested in yours on PGT and have sent him the details.

I've been genuinely really surprised shimmy; I've not had a single genuine enquiry and it's up on here and PH's. I expected at least a couple of cursory calls or emails.....
I guess it's the time of year and economic situation and the fact when I was looking I struggled to find one at first (4yrs ago) as they seemed to be snapped up right away.

it has milltek cats and supersprint straight mid section and a becker radio. fresh cups, fresh service. lovely condition better than the low mileage black one hexagon had up for 38 grand when i bought it a few years back :smokin:
oddly the service manager @ coopers chelmsford always said if I sold he would be interested and wanted first refusal, he now works for rolls royce. the dealer has contacted him today so that maybe handy ! also had interest from the guy who wants a sub 30k.. so wish me luck.. never fails to make me smile gutted its going

To be honest Paul, most regular people do not have a clue what pistonheads is. It's the cheapskates selling ground(I advertise on there too;))
And Csl register is unknown until most have bought
If you seriously want to sell, get your hand in your pocket and get it on autotrader, you will get far more hits IMO
Good luck with the sale,

To the op £29k seems a fair advertising price, depends how quick you want to sell
Wait for right buyer and you should get close
Sell quickly for £25k

Mine is just about to turn 50k, I'd give you 25k for yours if you want a quick sale! lol !
I can't keep my arse out the bloody thing, pretty soon its gonna be worth a packet of crisps and a pack of party balloons, still - I'll have great memories of it once its gone!
Absolutely love the thing.

Hi
I've seen your car and a few others with over 50k on the clock, the time of year doesn't help but when a car goes up for sale in the classifieds section many members reply with "its too cheap", but the reality is most cars do not fetch anything like the asking price or remain unsold if the seller doesn't reduce the price.
I'd say your car is worth about 22-24k, thats if it doesn't require any work or tires.
Not meaning to offend you, but I feel the market doesn't want to pay over 25k for post 50k mile cars and you lack of interest sort of backs this up
Good luck

lack of enquiries does not necessarily mean price is too high.
You've got to remember that demand means that their won't be queues of people at your door, but advertised correctly and presented well the right buyer will be along with the right price.
Biggest mistake of car sales is the price due to lack of interest on rare cars. fair enough if condition is not up to price or you have no warranty or signs of high use and wear but otherwise you are gonna give it away.

I am with Shimmy on that one. These are 'special' cars and high performance with it. This means by definition that there is a limited market to appeal to. Everyone knows that they are not cheap to maintain and here I am talking not just about servicing but bumps, dents and scratches requiring replacement parts. There are always those that want to buy them 'cheap as chips' just to have owned one but then do not "maintain regardless of cost". The market for these is with those that buy them and have them as a second car/weekend run about and do not put many miles on them, own them for a couple of years and move on to GT3, GTR et cetera. They may have had a quick turnover initially (mine is on its fifth owner - I have had it for just over three years) but now they will go to people that hang onto them for a little longer often as garage queens.
The economic situaion is not ideal with banks less willing to lend. This will also limit the size of the market. Hold on your price and put it up in the spring/summer when your real market will be looking.
At the end of the day the market price is what people are willing to pay and as the economy is as it is, now is not an ideal time to sell to maximise true value.
Good luck.

You have to remember I'm not in the market for a csl, unfortunately for me I'm currently looking for a family wagon x5, so have no interest in talking prices down( if you can even do such a thing) I disagree shimmy its more or less always down to price, even at this time of year there's a market for cars like the CSL, it's not that exotic. I'm pretty sure if a few thousands pound were knocked off the price, interest would increase. I do agree though its not the best time to sell and it will effect the sale price
I agree the asking price is never achieved. I think the way things are going I'd take £25000 all day. It's still good residuals considering the value of a standard m3 similar age and milage ie £12k!!
A good Csl is a great buy but 30k can buy a clean un marked cherished 996 turbo with fpsh and sub 45k miles. These cars are faster and most were £100k new with the option of remap up to well over 500bhp, asking price of anything over £25k will leave a bitter taste in the mouth of any prospective buyer! I'm thinking of upgrading to e92 comp soon and I know I will do well to to get£25k for my Csl. It's a fact I have come to terms with that there are better cars to be had for £25k +
In fact the comp will cost me £60k with 10k on it, 1year old. £25k for my 8 yr old Csl and I'll be happy with that.
