Hi guys, it's time to extend an invite to the 2011 event.
I was blown away by the support from the CSL boys last year and hopefully you all had a good time?

The same basic framework applies, we're looking for a large static display area and once again are happy to accommodate as many of you as want to come.

I'm happy to coordinate numbers (unless one of you guys wants to help out )
Being part of the car club display means you get the best parking spaces (on the runway next to the main attractions) you do have to get there before the public but that does mean you can be first in the queue for most of the events and get extra space for a club stand/marquee if you want one.

You will also get the benefit of discounted entry (£7 per car and all occupants as opposed to £7per person - so essentially half price if there are two of you)

anyway firstly a quick precis of the event for those who have not been yet, i'll happily answer any questions you may have......

Dunsfold Supercar Family Funday aka Dads Day Out

Arguably the best event in the UK’s petrolhead calendar returns for it’s 3rd year and for 2011 the event will be bigger and better than ever before.

The Supercar Family Funday (held at Dunsfold Park the home of BBC’s Top Gear) is an interactive action-packed family event in aid of The Children’s Trust Charity in Tadworth.

This event has been co-organised by Petrolhead Nirvana in association with Club Scuderia the Ferrari enthusiasts’ site and this year is being sponsored by Shell V-Power. Over 6 months hard (unpaid) work has gone into making this a fantastic day out.

The main attraction of the day will be the 100 or so supercars giving passenger rides around the airfield in exchange for a donation to the charity. The cars will range from a mix of Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s, Ariel Atom’s, KTM X-bow’s, Aston Martin’s, Dodge Viper’s and others as well as a number of niche and even more exotic cars (which will be confirmed nearer the date but are likely to include F40’s, McLaren MP4’s, SLR’s and maybe even the odd Enzo, Zonda and Spyker).

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q209/harsh42/Dunsfold%20Supercar%20Day/_DSC2799.jpg

In addition to the main attraction there are also other interactive areas;

The Caterham Club will be demonstrating their form of car control in the shape of donuts and drifting, and will be taking passengers who are brave enough to get involved.

There’ll be a chance for kids from 14 upwards to take their first driving lesson in a dual control car next to a trained instructor (of course it’s open to anyone above the age of 14 too!).

As if all that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got Spectacular and electrifying stunts from East Coast FMX display team M.A.D. -the UK's number 1 mountain bike stunt & display team. Plus Dunsfold Fire Brigade will demonstrate their life-saving techniques and equipment by responding to a staged Road Traffic Collision.

Kids Zone marquee with Roary the Racing Car & Big Chris, who will appear for meet & greet and photos, a Roary merchandise stall plus a Crafts Zone where children can decorate their own race car to take home, face painting, balloon modeling and a Slot Car competition provided by Slot 32
Helicopter rides from Elite Helicopters- £35 per adult & £30 per child- these can be booked at the event
Routemaster bus rides to transport you in style from the car park to the event arena
Live music in the Bands Tent a variety of bands throughout the day

Fire Engine rides for children

Land Train and Fairground rides including a giant bouncy castle and soft play area plus Cub Carts for 3-9 year olds

Simulator with following experiences: Red Arrows, Ski, Car Rally, Astro Canyon, Glacier Run, Pepsi Max Roller coaster & many more.

Models Zone with model aeroplanes and helicopters from Addlestone Models and model car stalls.

Automobile-themed catering bars from DW Mobile Catering Bars

Static display of over 500 classic & sports cars including a Jordan F1 Racing Car plus a number of aircraft including Sea Harrier, Sea Hawk & Air Support Unit.

More attractions are being confirmed weekly, so keep checking back to find out what else is going on.

There is a large parking area and advance entry costs are £7 per adult and £3 per child. However car clubs who display their cars will only be charged £7 per car with a driver and up to 4 passengers.

Every penny raised from this event goes direct to The Children’s Trust.

Gates open to the public from 8.30am and the event starts at 9.00am. The first rides on the circuit will start at 9.00am and will run until 4.30pm (but no later due to noise restrictions at the airfield), so make sure you arrive early.

To book the car club entrance tickets you’ll need to follow this link:
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/carclubdisplay

Please ensure you arrive (if you’re part of the car club) before 8.30am to give us enough time to direct you to the display area and enough time for you to set up your stand/marquee if you have one.

We would prefer you to stay for the duration of the show if possible and as there is so much going on during the day it should be a fun time all day.

In order to book rides in advance you’ll need to follow this link (don’t buy another entry ticket as the ‘display pass’ lets you in):
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/shop.asp?section=749&sectionTitle=Dad%27s+Day+Out+tickets

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q209/harsh42/Dunsfold%20Supercar%20Day/_DSC3532.jpg

Please make sure you book your rides in advance as there’s a limited number and they are likely to be sold out way before the event as it will be advertised in the national and local press, so book early to take advantage of it.

You can also use the same link to book Caterham and Helicopter rides, although the young driver training is not yet available to book online.

We’re expecting more than the 5,000 visitors we had in 2010 and of course the more people who attend the more we will raise for The Children’s Trust so please pass details of this event on to others. (Members of the public will have to purchase general entry tickets at £7 per person and £3 for a child instead of the £7 car club display ticket) We also have posters and flyers available so if you feel you can help to distribute these then please contact us and we will send you as many as you require.

Was speaking to Amit the other day and mentioned I'd not had much of a response over here whilst the other car clubs are booking like mad...

He told me to tell you not to be so boring and get your arses in gear...

i'd prefer to say do you fancy coming again, but that might be misconstrued as well..

is anyone up for this again this year?

:hahaha: You gotta be jokin right!?
I spent the whole day walking round freezin my ass off, then stupidly stood in the rain watching the F1, (which I wish I hadn't bother with). Followed by making the effort to step into a Fezza for a few hot laps round the track to get me back upto Temp.
Where were you when all this was going on? :hahaha:
Then yes guilty, we retreated back to the car for a cuppa & the cold stuck me to me seat! ;)

Looking good guys,
I'm going to need final numbers by next Tuesday so i have enough time to sort out who is parking where.

Can you also make sure you have bought your ticket in advance as that is the only way you will be able to access the display area and enter the event before the gates open to the public

just to make it easy for you the link to buy the display tickets is here.....
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/carclubdisplay

Once again i need numbers by next Tuesday so if you can collate the numbers by then and have a list ready for me that would make my life a lot easier!!

Thanks again for all your support for this event, the guys at the charity have been bowled over by the response from everyone and asked me to pass along their thanks to you all

Regards
Bachi

More fun things to do at Dads Day Out, especially for car clubs displaying...which of course means you guys.

The FDMC (Farnborough and District Motor Club) have chipped in to support us at Dads Day Out.

They will be setting up an Autosolo test course.

For those that don't know what it is, AutoSolo is a derivation of the famed Autotest, driving through cones on a pre arranged course against the clock.

Autosolo is a faster more fun version of that.

The guys at FDMC will set a time first thing in the morning and the trick will be to get as close to their time as possible so it's not about the fastest, just the most accurate.
Knocking cones over will mean a time penalty so you'll have to take that into account too.

All funds raised will go to charity but even so at £10 for 3 timed runs it's exceptionally good value for a very addictive challenge.

Slots will be allocated on the day on a first come, first served basis and they will be setting up on the overshoot section of the runway.

Because of this we have moved the static display area closer to that port of the runway so as to ease access both in and out of the display area so that you don't have to stay all day (as you wont be trapped by the Caterham drifting section which has now been moved to the previous display area.)

Remember the display tickets go offline at the end of tomorrow and will not be available on the day so if you miss those and still want to come you'll have to buy normal adult entry passes at £8 per person on the gate (as opposed to £7 for the car and up to 4 people in advance via this link..

Monkeycsl, Yanto, RolyGTiR, me, and Pink Panther met at BP on A3. Sanjay(new owner) joined us at Cathedral and Ruebdo and 'Dave' (strange name) was in front of us in the queue at Dunsfold.

I think that made 8 (if you include the 2 odd lookin black ones)

I was last but one to leave but i ink Dave was last as his battery was goosed after having his alarm on all afternoon.

I managed to avoid the 'train' but got roped into other exciting rides like the 'double decker bus' and the 'tea cup' merry go round. No photos please I hope.

A few nice cars there especially the Enzo and one of the F355 sounded awesome. I think if I could have an car that I saw it would be the F599 though

Highlight for me was pax in the Enzo - incredible car. Good to meet you guys - yes got dragged into double deckers, trains, teacups and "soft play" areas (which aren't that soft if you're 6'2" and stand up into an iron bar). The important thing is no photo evidence of any of the above to my knowledge...

Oh and battery wasn't goosed for once (but thanks for pointing it out when you eventually found me off one of the above!!!)

Car of the day definitely the Enzo, though the owner left a bit sheepishly after a spin on the last corner.
