When I first learned about the CSL, one of the few things that I remember was an extra light boot lid made from CFP. Now that I actually bought one last year, the thing seems to weigh more than the M3's boot lid. Is that right or did someone scam me on a replica lid?
Are you guys satisfied with the weight of the lid? It's twice as heavy as the boot lid on my Mercedes.
Mine has never been off the car so I wouldn't know of the weight, it's lighter as it's SG though if that matters!? :smokin:
Seriously, on the hinges it seems to fly up over my old standard E46 M3?

Checked it with the dealer before I bought it. When I hit the trunk open button, the thing does take some effort to lift compared to the Merc. Maybe worn hydraulics...
Don't worry, mine is SG too

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed. 14kg is a bit of a porker don't you reckon?
Have you guys lifted the boot lid on a E class? That thing is featherlight.

Hadn't noticed it being heavy on mine I must say. Could it have anything to do with the struts?

The merc boots are nearly all spring assisted, where as the M3/CSL are not. That is why it seems to be hard to lift, its just the design of the mechanism.
