I just bought my first CSL today, before I had a chance to view the Oil dipstick video, my problem being that I have purchased the vehicle as a second company car, and our company rules state that vehicle oil level should be checked daily !!... I think I shall rewrite them !

You can still do that via the onboard computer screen in the cluster and physically check it every month.

Alternatively there's another way to get to the dip stick without ripping the airbox out - but you'll need to remove a couple of other trims on the top corner and go through there (works for RHD cars only) - I've tried it once and it's okay and slightly faster.

we are all dead serious on this forum :hahaha:

Actually there's another way to do this without removing the airbox .... but much easier if the car's up on a hoist or you have long arms with the car up on jack stands :supz:

Or if you really wanted to, swap in the standard E46 M3 oil dipstick and tube (but some bending is required)

I had a go at this today, got stuck on how to get the airbox intake part out, so found the vid... so now I know I have to take the pollen filter housing out too. Which is useful, thanks a lot Mark...

I also found a present from BMW Cooper Reading sitting in the pollen filter tray ! Crap photo but it's a 27mm spanner, so pretty damn big !

:) :) :)

Now I just need to work out what the hell on the car needs a 27mm spanner.

The real job was to check the airbox for crud, and it was all pretty good in fact. A bit of oily grit but not the plentiful sand dunes that some have reported.

Spent ages yesterday scratching my head working out where the hell the dipstick was.
Embarrassingly, I'd had to check the manual, then check You Tube!

What a ridiculous faff when you want to do a 'quick' check/top up!!

Hello,

Does anyone still have this video?

I found a small leak which I think comes from the pentosin reservoir. (The weather was a bit hot the other day and it might have spilled)

I wanted to give the engine a good clean.

By the way, what is the torque to apply to the strut brace when you put it back?

Kind regards,
Alex

Here is a very good guide on how to remove part of the airbox.

I believe the bolts are secured with 12Nm, but i will check when im back at home.
