View Full Version : how to compete 997 GT3?

i know it's not far to the 997 GT3, but the Pcar would still be a little faster, specially in straight line and uphills (yes i mean Ring mainly)

what mods do You suggest to get the same ...

yes I drive ring with m friend with GT3, when i had GTR it was no competition as the GTR is extremely fast at the Ring, but now I have to fight more :-)

I guess there is no simple way to get more power from that engine without loosing it's life....

it depends on your budget but easiest way would be to loose weight put it on a diet and then some proper set up suspension and you will have no problem with the gt3. Also an AP brake set up.

Id start with take out the rear seats. Light weight exhaust system Ti if you can afford it. Delete the air con, Carbon boot, bonnet, front and rear spoiler, doors if you can afford it.

Some 2 way motons

a remap

sticky rubber

AP brake set up job done

sure i'll get an exhaust, but have not found any TI for CSL. now my actual choice is Supersprint Race. Brakes i'll change for sure. Tires are fine, the CUPs are great don't see a point here...

diet is a good point but what can i take off? rear seats is just like 5kg? aircon will stay in car for sure, same as audio.

Easy

Become a better driver. Unless your friend is at 7.50 for Full Circuit (around 7.20 BTG then you have a chance, but if you are already saying the car isn't fast enough you will never be as quick as a 997 Gt3.

Shimmy the 997 GT3 is faster with same skilled driver. And yes I see our point but with this guy we are equal. I don't say that the CSL is slow, but for example compare to GT-R, yes it's slow in uphills and straight line.

btw my time is sub 8 whole lap, his is a bit over..

so your already faster - whats the problem?

and i have to congratulate you, a sub 8m full lap is the best time i have ever heard of bar the HvS lap for the official time

becuse it's time with GT-R not with CSL....

ahhhhh

but hence my post about better driving as the CSL is capable of 7m 50

but losing some weight say 90kg will help:thumbs:

sure, I've seen the 7:50 lap on wiki. but we probably can necer get similar conditions, at least we never have empty track as those test guys.Same with GTR and same with any other car. so once 7:50 is probably best CSL lap time, I'm pretty sure I can never do sub 8 with CSL... at least with stock :-)

sounds like a load of reasons why not to me, but tuition and more laps and a slightly better driver on the Ring will keep up with a GT3 esp with a few kg less

not as easy on a Circuit but the Ring maybe

I'd sooner lighten my CSL than change it from the way a CSL should be. If you want BIG power increases then buy a more powerful car

More driver tuition - yes.

100cell cats, remap - all good for an extra 15bhp on CSL.

Lighter Recaro seats - yes and maybe removal of 18kg in the rear. Total weight saved - 30kg IMO.

Go on a diet and lose 10kg or more - yes. :hahaha:

Some more camber on the front and Brembo BBK.

That's all i'd do. I wouldn't even do the suspension change.

Good luck.

There is also the option that your friend sells the GT3 and gets a CSL.
Then you can beat him ;)

remove 80+ kilos as explained before
carbon bonnet
front spoiler
rear spoiler
rear boot
lighter exhaust
seats
hole saw the front and rear bumper carriers

if you really wanted to you could strip out all the carpet with the sound deadening in it and put in some light weight custom stuff

weight loss is a sum of all the parts they might only be 7 kilos 10 kilos here and there put all together it makes a difference big difference.

shorter rear diff 3.73 or something similar

remap for the extra 15 bhp

proper set up and valved race motons these will make a big difference.

you will be all over him and if you can improve your driving skill past him with ease.

With these improvements it will be in corner speeds where you will get the lap time so you have to be able to improve the driving skill to get full use of these improvements.

dont bother with just trying to get big power it is not needed waste of money as mentioned before go buy a different car.

Forget the re-map. Waste of money on a CSL.
Front bumper/spolier is already carbon.
Rear bumper/spoiler - you'd struggle to get one any lighter.

The rest I broadly agree with apart from also needing better brakes and look into lighter 18" wheels as mentioned earlier in thread.

no, never. most likely keep CSL and buy GT3RS. but to be honest I'm not fan of the 911 rear based engine. And after owning 600HP super moded GTR I like something simple, even it's not that fast and powerfull.
