Hi guys,
My brother and i are very close to buying our CSL and we have KW V3's ready to go on. Being in W London area I was thinking of taking my car to ALtuning for the suspension fitting as well as a general check up as they are linked with CA automotive (who are well known) and i have also seen their videos of CSL conversion airbox's they have done so thought they would know what they are doing.
I wanted to ask who here had used them and what they thought because after doing a search i came across some very alarming posts regarding them. Apparently they diagnosed a CSL with a vanos failure, billed the guy 6k, told him he had a new vanos but instead they just painted the vanos and put on a remap to make it over fuel or something to mask the problem. They used AAT, apparantly he is the brother of the guy that owns altuning and does all their mapping as well.
Misdiagnosing things that have just been chanegd recently to mak money off customers that don't know much about mechanics!!
whats also shocking is they are accused of using what looks like a semi synthetic 10w40 oil in an E46 M3!!! The owner has put up lab results of the oil in his engine as well as a sample of new TWS that he sent to the lab!! This last thread was removed for some reason, it had the scanned documents of the report which showed clearly the difference between the 2 oils, vicosity at 40degC and addiives packages!

I'm sure people will come along soon with their prefered specialists. Mine happen to be Simpson Motorsport. They have a good rep.
Try to avoid posting details like that if possible. Don't mind advising on places to go but we try not to get involved in slagging matches. Anyway, you seem to have found out enough yourself about the above to make your own conclusions.;)

I removed the last thread at OPs persistent request, as he's trying to recoup his loss(£600) from AL tuning MD mike so wanted it removed. It's frustrating for us moderators as ALT ate our sponsors and ate not denying any of the accusations nor acknowledging it either.
But it seems they won't last for long as the forum will start to get bad press for hosting them.
Member who got his oil lab tested shouldn't have posted up unless he's sure the ALT are unapproachable and refuse to recoup his loss. Now us admin had to delete it as he is about to get refunded. Paints a bad conduct of code for the forum as we shouldn't host threads like those and then make them disapper.
A thread should only be removed if the water is above your head and lady case scenario...but this back & forth is very unprofessional.
Also mike@al-tuning has said it's their suppliers fault for supplying AL-tuning the wrong oil...don't know who to believe, IMO everybody are acting like monkeys.

Sorry, if i've broken any rules. Wasn't my intention, I just need a good place near to me so i can stay and watch work being done.
Just finished reading through all the pages of those threads and it really doesn't look good for them. All those people can not be lying!

Lets keep this thread on topic, there are many decent places to go as Alex has said, will move this thread if it turns out into a rant / commentary about who ever AL are, we have no interest in that topic on here, never heard of them.
You might want to contact :
Simpsons
Thorney Motorsport
AMD
BM Sport
All of which are no more than an hour or so from London and a drive is worth having the best service.

i read that thread earlier on m3c and it was very interesting (i agree a bit premature) but if ALT really have put in some shite old oil into an M3 then when it comes to a conclusion they deserve to pay for a new engine imho - and if they want to charge their supplier they can try (although i fail tom see how a Castrol Oil can be supplied wrong i mean it says what it is on the tin, not as if the supplier takes it out and puts it in a big unlabelled barrel
the oil test results looked way dodgy even to us amateurs

Thank you Daz. I have heard of very, very good things about Simpsons although I thought they were quite far, I will check again. But you are right, it boils down to who is worth the travel, especially with a car like the CSL.

I had my car remapped by A LOL tuning and trust me - if i told you the story - you might not believe me but it costed me two totally wasted days and a tank of V power..... some time after, he did refund the money but not the other costs.
I was furious!!
