Hi guys, let me introduce myself. My name is Jan and I'm form Czech Rep. I had M3 E46 since 2005 and than Nissan GT-R since 2008. Now I decided to leave the hyper powered japanies technic and come back to something more simple but with bigger soul and fun inside, yes CSL. I just got a piece with roughly 60kkm at the odo in very nice condition and now I'm looking what to do:
Maintenance:
- plan to do Inspection II and change all fluid include tranny and diff oil
- probably have to check bushings and bearings?
- what else should i check and change?
Mods:
- the car will definitely not be daily driver, it will be used for: Alps passes, Nordschelife couple times a year and some local roads on weekends
I'm 100% sure I have to change the brakes /looking to Movit's or Brembos/ a little thinking about Movits Cabon ceramic /will see the offers/
I'm not sure if to switch to some coilovers. My previous M3 had TCK coils, RTAB from powerflex and some other mods, but the CSL suspension is way better tuned than stock, so not sure if it make sense.
last mod I think is to lost more weight but not sure if there is some chance, my car has AC, Radio and xenon lights but these options I don't want to remove. But maybe there is some Titan or other super light exhaust on the market. And maybe You know some other chances to make it even lighter...
for daily I have other car and for short tracks like Brno really special track machine so the point is not to do an extreme track machine, just to make it more competitive at Alps and Ring to GT3s etc
thank You all

Welcome Kislik
The following are common replacement parts for CSLs here in the UK:
Brakes - AP or Alcon (K-Sport & Brembo less popular)
Suspension - KW or Intrax (Bilstein, Nitron, Moton less popular)
Exhaust - Supersprint or Milltek
Based on what you say it will be used for i would not bother with different suspension if you will only drive on road and the Ring. You might want to check the standard springs for cracking. I would also fit the RTAB to the CSL as it will definitely benefit from them.

thank You guys, it's like 7 or 8 CSLs in Czech Rep.
will probably stay with stock suspension till me first Ring visit, than will see. What makes me think about coilovers is that 60kkm is quite a lot for any suspension, so i may probably change the shocks and springs anyway. than there is a question for what... oem will probably not be any cheaper
pads on AP brakes can be changed without removing the caliper? is the kit lighter than stock? can i fit it in 18" wheel? Is there Pagid R29 compound for the AP kit?
do You guys know the weights of stock exhaust parts and supersprint weights?

Very true, OEM will probably be more expensive lol!

Yes, you change the pads on AP brakes without removing caliper. Simply remove two bolts and drop out the old pads. The APs are fractionally lighter iirc. The latest APs fit inside 18" wheels fine and Pagid RS29 make pads for them - that's what i use.
do You guys know the weights of stock exhaust parts and supersprint weights?
The Supersprint race lightweight back box is around half the weight of the OEM version. The SS backbox is around 12kg

Stick with stock shocks and springs, for your intended use I think they will work best
Just fit some adjustable top mounts, turner motorsport make these, dial some camber front and rear and hey presto a great handling car.
As stated already by glendog the supersprint race back box is the one to buy, unless you want to spend fortunes on ti for no extra gain IMO. Except it may sound slightly different.
AP brakes are superb and are the choice brake set-up used by majority of csl'ians
There are many many different pads to choose from for the ap as most use the same pad.

Welcome
You sound like a sensible chap, don't think you'll go far wrong with the car.
Been mentioned above in part but keep an eye on rear springs(they snap), RTAB(they tear, use Turner limiter kits or poly), 'rear subframe cracks' obviously not the subframe), air box potentiometer/flap (stops working annually, take the flap out), clutch slur (get it retaught asap), and finally when at the ring watch out for DuncanR(knob), Glendog(arse), Matt(camera) and Dan(although he'll probably ignore you;))
