Reason I ask is I was looking at this vid of 2009 MLR trackday of an Evo X SST like mine with near 400bhp.
Running on cups, KW clubsport. Similar spect to what mine will be.
Vid shows best of 2.51, but he ran a 2.49, seems pretty quick?
What did curly and Shimmy run? Was it 2.54?

I managed a few 3.00 min laps on my first visit there in 2009 with minimal track knowledge on standard suspension.
I never timed myself this year but would imagine i knocked a second or two off my previous best - when the track dried anyhow... :bigcry:

You were allowed you had Pizza:thumbs:
I know I ran just under 3 mins, 1st time there, in the pork 996tt.
I remember watching a vid of curly and shimmy chasing a gt3, I'm sure they were low 2.50's

Nice laps. Very smooth and sub 2min 50 would be very quick.
Been there so many times but never timed my laps, so can't say what I've done but fairly sure Shim/Curly have been in and around that time and possibly quicker.

iirc first time in 2008 was 2m57, 2009 2m54 and fastest this year was in DuncanRs monster a 2m57 again
Looking at 2009 data the ideal lap was about 2m52.5 so i reckon a good driver in CSL could get a 2m50
all being equal this year that what i was gonna try for

Seen that before, impressive but you wonder how he timed the 2:49 if it isn't on video given the lap timing mechanism he uses is video based...

Indeed. Looking at those laps I would say the sub 2min 50 was possibly forum talk.:smt024 Unless he has one of those Jap adjustable boosty things to send the boost through the roof for a qually style bansai lap.

Ant did a 2:37 in a CSL that was suffering with HGF so low compression in 4 cylinders! Mind you it was a bit lighter than standard and on slicks with some minor aero mods ;)
Standard engine though, 380bhp on MoTeC.

I think a lot depends on a good time at Spa is the car, in the evo video the guy certainly seems to be going well but with the camera on the roof you can see how hard he is trying. When me and shimmy was there in 09 we were pretty much running at the same pace, I did have my DL1 in the car but for some reason it didnt work and I remember timing a few laps off the video and I got a low 2.52 in traffic so I guess with a clear lap maybe a 2.50 or high 49. My M3 had just come off the Simpsons dyno a month before and was showing just over 320 bhp so its well down on the 400 bhp evo, I think the big problem at Spa with the M3 and CSL is the 2nd gear corners you just cant get enough traction like the 4 wheel drive evo's and the porsche GT3 as you can see on this clip the evo in front destroys my M3 out of the slow corners but the M3 takes all the time back in the faster stuff.

Nathan, don't let Ants head get any bigger than it is or he'll need that roller shutter door to get in and out the workshop.:hahaha:

lets ignore the 2m 49 shall we!!
best there for the Evo was a 2m51+ and i reckon a CSL could match that if driven by someone better than me - but not beat it by much!
ive crossed checked the data against my data and makes for interesting reading
not much in it as youd expect as only about 2-3,5s diference but a few points (in km/h)
here is a little comparison i drew up
Green is my 2009 2m54.0s (same day as the evo)
Blue is my 2010 2m 57.6s (drying conditions!)
Evo is 2009 2m51.4
You can see where i have marked the Evos top speeds and lowest speeds on the corners for comparisons. i know there is a lot more to it than that but its soemthing to talk about!
Very little in it as you would expect as my ideal lap out of the two shown is a 2m 52.2s

here is my vid of the day (not the 2m 54 but 2m 54.7 i think)

Mine will sound a little bit more fruity, and he was running in full auto mode too. I prefer manual shifting.
Its hard for me to get the right car Jim, being a one armed fucker and all.
Manual it would be GT3 no question, but.... needs to be auto or SMG type and I felt as I said I had taken the CSL to my limits. Driver tuition might have made me quicker, who knows.
I just wondered what the pace was like.
I always felt my CSL was approx 390-400bhp evo pace over a full lap of a flowing circuit.
Just wanted to know if 2.49 was fast:thumbs:, to be fair judging different drivers in evos than the CSL is a bit like comparing apples and pears.
When the guy in the vid was there this yr in the GTR, ( dunlop stickers) I passed him so I dont know how good a driver he is, he seemed smooth though.
Almost curlyesque;)
I will know better next yr from Oulton park, as this is really the only track I have firm stats from in the CSL.
I can then give a true comparison, between the 2.
My business partner in his 400bhp evo I think ran 1.54@ oulton on yoko a048's.
The cars are like chalk and cheese, both have weaknesses and strengths in different areas. both great fun though.
~I would like to give the curlymacher a go in my Evo, see how fast he can take it.

Curlyesque:hahaha: i know what your doing there shane;) the thing is for a road legal car like the Evo with a few mild tweeks are 2.49 at Spa and a 1.54 at Oulton are pretty damn fast times, Glenn Mc with a GT3RS who races in the porsche carrera cup was doing about 2.47's at Spa and 1.53's at Oulton.
Yes Shane I would love to have a go in your new Evo maybe in the new year when its a bit warmer at Oulton or at the Super Snett showdown in March next year :smokin::hahaha:
