As both are now teetering on the edge of Pork ownership I thought I'd test out the options.
Spent the whole day at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone with TerryB, Clive and PeteRS off of Opl.co.UK testing their cars on the various circuits. Also a few tutorials and reaction tests as well as computer driving game.
We all drove the GT3RSGen2 (low grip circuit), Boxster and Cayman (handling circuit), 911 C2S & C4S (ice hill and kick plate), Cayenne (off road), Panamara 4S (road driving).
Supern day, good company and good food.
TerryB looked great drifting the RS and was quickest out of 48 on the reactions (I was pretty good too), and I was king of the Le Mans Spider driving Silverstone GP circuit (computer game);).
So if you boys want to ask any questions, feel free although I have to say, even though Curly will rip me to pieces, the Cayman S with PDK was my star of the day.

I was going to go for one of those days but it was my understanding that you only drove one of the cars. Personally I have no interest in driving the gypsy wagon ie Cayenne, just the GT3/RS

you dont get much time inn them tbh
The Cayman and Boxster you do quite a few laps of the handling circuit and you get 30 mins road drive in the Panamara. Cayenne is off road course but just one driver of the 4
Rs you get a couple of laps ;)

So you do not get the chance to pay and spend the whole day in the RS. Hmm a little disappointing.

Shimmy,
I have thought of doing one of the 90 minute low grip or handling lessons. What do you think, are the circuits fun?

I'm sure TerryB is the former owner of my CSL. I got in touch with him on Mtorque, he sent me some photos, if it's the same guy that is.
Sounds like a fantastic day was had, I'm not jealous at all!

Daz, I am on the same agenda and hoping to pick a 996 GT3 in December. I have sourced a spare garage. I too will keep the CSL just in case and of course because I am a commitment phobe. I have my eye on one subject to viewing and a third party checking it over, oh and work.

Im realistically not looking at one tho till late 11 / early 12 as thats when the CSL becomes mine ( with no payments ) and ideally want a 997 ( White / Black or Meteor Grey ) by then they should be mid 40's low 50's im hoping
Something like this is what is going to sort the itch

With the CS seats ...Akrapovic.... Nav .. some comfort.. Job done for day to day and the CSL for tracking and ring ... it just has to be done :smokin:

Personally I am looking at a 996 at the moment as they are a little more affordable. My CSL is paid for this month but if the itch really gets me later I will plump for the RS. Another £10k and this is yours. The Porsche enthusiasts do not think prices will move much more but then they would say that and with a double dip it has to be the time .

Fookin' heck Daz, you don't do my will power any good at all!! THAT IS IT, white 997 GT3. Same spec as you. Clubsport, NAV, etc.:smokin:http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn67/dazzam3_photo/22_l.jpg

Love the RS deffo, but for my needs ( itch ) the GT3 no RS is perfect, by then the CSL will be a full track toy, with cage and better seats etc and will set up the suspension more track orientated, as I won't be driving it daily ;)

Not good mate. When do you find out what's happening?
We find out who the initial redundancy is aimed at in the New Year and the will look for volunteers at first before they stich anyone up. Earliest I can be forced to leave is July 2012.
My 'trade' has considerable risk of being made to go too... :bigcry:
I do have some plans in the pipeline, however...
