Still looking for a beater and its come down the old school M daddy.
Had a run in one many many moons ago but cani mind if it had the lovely v8 rumble and burble that Im looking for. Kinda like the rs4.
Anyone got / had / remember what one sounds like?

aye thats what Im thinking shimmy. not one for sticking fart cans on motors though. With an exhaust is the v8 / rs4 noise acheivable or is it just not that sorta v8?

BMw quietened it on purpose, you can make it sound superb very easily, better than RS4.
Im not sure best box to put on but ive heard a few and some sound sublime
check out one of the M5 forums i guess
(i was in traffic next to oen a bout a year ago going into London and it sounded soooo nice with the BBox on)

Talk to Stevie, 'M5Steve' he owned one for many years, over on Bavarian Board, you know the big, ginger welder guy? Proper Glasgow boy and a Gent to suit.

I still have my old e39 M5 and it is quite dramatic when it starts up in the morning inside my garage. Everyone in the house knows I am leaving and mine is stock.
I have not had any major issues with mine. Just the usual consumables and a radio module that would not switch itself off. It is a lovely driver for my trip to Kirkcudbright, Scotland to pick up my children.
I use it as my run about although no short journeys if I can help it.
